It's also something no one expected as well...if you think of it from a human standpoint. Main character was selfish and look at the wreck society was....he was holding onto the last thing he loved. The ending was beautiful because it was completely human.

Not your typical, "Happy **** you" ending.
It's the greatest game I've played, really. I mean, as far as the storyline is considered.

This. If they got into her head, killed her, and saved the human race it would have sucked in multiple ways. First, she'd be dead, that would suck. Also, there'd be no sequel, which would suck.

This was the best ending possible.

It left it wide open as to whether Ellie knows he's lying or not. Couldnt have been better, in my opinion.
