Any chance LJ not a Chief after next week?

Haven't heard too much about this, but it seems possible if not plausible:

Larry Johnson saves his payday, for now
Posted by Mike Florio on September 5, 2009 10:52 PM ET

Earlier this year, the Chiefs successfully avoided $3.5 million in guaranteed base salary that would have been owed to running back Larry Johnson this year.

Now, Johnson is poised to earn $4.55 million, guaranteed.

If Johnson, who made the cut to 53 in Kansas City seven months after proclaiming that he wanted out, is on the roster next week at this time, the Chiefs will owe him the full amount of his base pay for the year, given his status as a vested veteran.

There's still a chance that the Chiefs will ask Johnson to take less money or take a hike, even though the Chiefs have more than enough cap room to carry his contract. At a time when many teams are cap rich but cash poor, an ultimatum would be aimed not at creating space for signing other players, but at saving money.

The problem is that other teams will actually start gameplanning now, and simply overload the weakside defense until the Chiefs prove they have someone playing the strongside.

Well, since you felt it was necessary to clarify to everyone what was clearly visible in the gif, I thought *newsflashes* were the order of the day.

Some aren't certified experts like the two of us who know these things.

I was talking to Claythan.

Newsflashes for that dumbass are a necessity.

I think GoChiefs actually knows these things. He has so much of his self-identity invested in LJ, though, that he ignores them. The last man bailing on a sinking ship can't be too concerned about the shoals ahead.

The new administration seems to like LJ for some reason.

Just for milkman, here is the epic blocking on that play. Very nice job indeed! Waters does a great job shoving a man off to Albert and then picking up another guy.

LJ is still a good player but not an everydown back. If the Chiefs had another good RB LJ would be a really good player.

With that size and strength LJ should be gettin the ball 35 times a game. Our line sucks but LJs lack of gameness is worse, guy is a fraud.

Wow, nice footwork by Waters on that play. Albert seemed a little slow to get his feet where he needed them, but did a good job of taking his man out of the picture once he did... Had that not been a counter, we might have had some issues

They all kicked ass on that. Niswanger/Goff on the dblteam, McIntosh, Cox with the key block in the hole.

The only one who wasn't perfect was the 230 lb. guy who got pushed out of bounds.
