Troublemaking for Logical

Let me preface all I'm about to say with the fact that I am very fond of Logical. I consider him a friend. He's always been a friend to this website and to any of its charitable efforts as well. I also acknowledge that I have zero authority on this site.

However, I have a real problem with somebody having the ability to delete a thread simply because they didn't like the way it turned out.

According to what I read on Jim's poll (which has since been deleted by him) he used multiple ID's to affect the results. Guntherfan was ostracized for doing that for years.

I don't care how the poll turned out or what the terms of the wager were. I really don't. I enjoyed flipping Jim crap about being a liberal in my posts but I just don't care about that.

What I do find objectionable is his ability to whack his entire threads when it began to turn south on him.

I think the following should take place:
1. The ability to delete threads should be revoked for any thread over an hour old.
2. The threads/polls Jim deleted should be restored.

Hey I went through one of these douchetastic battles as well, when I was El Douch3 Capitan.

Maybe they can just temporarily change your name to Vlad Douchecicle?

All in good fun, of course.

I have no idea what this is all about, but why are you asking others to delete your account? If you feel your actions should result in a banning, just do it yourself. Do what you feel is right. Do not ask others to be the "bad guy".

My views differ from your's...and your's from mine. But you are a valuable poster on this bulletin board. Much more so than I. Take the night off....

Well, I think this current issue has been resolved, so thanks Phob for pointing it out. I'm pretty sure it was just an oversight when creating the "supporters" group, but I'll try and go through there at some point to see if there are any other weird settings we've missed.

I don't quite know what the deal is, but I'm troubled that Logical would ask for his account to be deleted. I declined to do so, of course. I'm actually pretty puzzled that he would even ask over something pretty small.

(I changed my mind about the second part).

I know Jim probably wouldn't want me talking about but I don't think it's any huge secret.

Jim has been sick for several years. I have no idea where his illness stands and I think it's a slippery slope how much rope he's given due to his sickness. I don't believe anybody has given him any proverbial "rope" to date but maybe this situation is something for which some compassion is in order.

He's an icon at this place. Without him maybe it isn't the same kind of culture or maybe it doesn't even exist at all. Who knows?

I do think the talk about banning and deleting his account is stupid. It's a mistake. Trash him for his mistake.

I'm not a fan of doing that at all, but what's done is done. If nothing else, it screws up the database with a bunch of orphaned posts.

Sort of where I was going with that question. I know some people won't like it, but if Vlad wants to leave and feels that he has to have his account deleted to do so, by all means let him.
