The Wide Receiver Position
Just because the Chiefs aren't rebuilding the position doesn't mean we can't. Absolutely zero doubt that this is the weakest position on our team, and we all agree it needs to be vamped up.
What's your suggestion for vamping? How many draft picks do you burn, and where. How many free agents do we track down, and which ones*, and which WRs currently on our roster do we let go of? * List of current WR FAs... http://proxy.espn.go.com/nfl/fa?positionId=1 |

IMO...
Draft picks we use on WR: 1st Midround, like 4th or 5th FAs we track down: Antonio Bryant Clarence Moore David Patton Chiefs WRs that we hold onto: Chris Hannon Eddie Kennison Jeff Webb Chiefs WRs that we let go/trade: Rod Gardner Dante Hall Samie Parker Well, that's not exactly going to fix our problems, but it's a marked improvement. And it's something. Our #1 pick should be our #1, Kennison our #2, Webb and Bryant our top reserves, with Hannon in select distance-throwing situations, and Moore in select short-yardage/goalline/blocking situations, with two rarely-used reserves in our mid-round pick and David Patton. |

He's been fairly productive. If he has his shit straight he'd be a fitting #3 contributor. |

Bryant is one of those guys that will NEVER get his shit straight. He's not a reclamation project. |

I've been hoping we could pick up a solid experienced #3 in FA, and neither one of those other guys I "signed" would cut it as a #3.
HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM Not a great FA market for WR after New England gobbled them all up. |

I would venture that we're thinner at DT than we are at WR.

Everybody likes to talk about what position you take in the draft, but the way most teams (Texans not withstanding) do it is they choose from the best players left on the board. If you're unsure then you go by position but if there are 3 guys on the board who could be the best next pick and none of them is a WR then you don't get to take a WR.
