oh? Well, that would explain why the jags have sucked since coughlin left. The GM should prolly listen to your head coach, seeing as he is the one who will be coaching the guy. Prolly best to get a player that the Head Coach likes........

I know a lot of people on this board like to be negative, but did you ever consider that this might be a good thing? Good organizations build through the draft by taking the best available player, bad organizations reach for need. All these teams showing the most interest in Geno are the teams that pick in the top 10 every year, Bills, Jags, Browns, Jets, etc. I guess that's the theme for Geno in this draft though, "oh what the hell, he's good enough and there's nothing else," cue same team taking first round qb 2 years later.

Bad organizations reach for need Like giving #34 and a mid round pick for Alex Smith.

That's a fair argument if you don't like Alex Smith but most draft analysts have Geno as a late first round talent at best, at least with Smith you know you're getting an NFL starter still on a decent contract. The Chiefs also still have their first round pick, so they got an established NFL player for a 2nd rounder instead of a player a lot of scouts aren't sold on for a first overall. They probably ended up having to pay more than they wanted to but Reid is in love with Alex so if you trust his judgment they got more with giving up less than they would with Geno, which is a smart move to fill the qb position. Of course if you think Geno is the next Aaron Rodgers or just want to draft any qb just to draft one of your own then you're not gonna care.

Yeah he is...and the Browns are interested in Geno Smith. They held a private workout for him and there's an article up on CBS sports right now about their interest. I can't post links or else I would link to it.

I know, you drafted Kaepernick in the 2nd but by your logic he wouldn't have been worth using a first round pick on. Clearly the analysts and even teams aren't able to properly evaluate QB play until they get in a real NFL regular season game. How long would Brady have sat behind Bledsoe if not for injury. Would Kaepernick even be your starter this season if Alex hadn't been hurt. And those are players that the teams get to see every day in NFL practices. They should be far better at judging those guys than random NFL prospects. Yeah, there is risk, but you can't win the lottery if you never buy a ticket. That's where the Chiefs are.. They are Joe Schmo playing it safe. Pulling down their 45k, doing all the safe "right" things, surviving day to day, but never going to make the good life. Maybe we'll go 9-7 or 10-6 and make the playoffs a couple of years but there's no real hope. Sure, the Hunts coffers will be filled because the stadium will stay full but that's about all we'll get from it. |

Well, those are the expectations I'm setting for them. I'm not giving them slack coming off a 2 win season after that move. They are an 11 win team with good QB play, so Walrus better be right.
