Alex Smith Traded to Chiefs

Well, it looks like the deal is done.

https://twitter.com/intent/user?scre...w_p=tweetembed

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
49ers have completed a trade with the Chiefs for Alex Smith, tho can't be official til March 12. Chiefs really made a commitment to Smith

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
Deal has been agreed upon between Chiefs and 49ers. Compensation unclear but I'm told again Chiefs have made a clear commitment to Smith.

Maybe. I just still can't believe there was that much interest in Smith. This was a guy that could be had last year for nothing, and no one wanted him.

Honestly I don't think any other team had interest. I think the 49ers played Dorsey and Reid big time. The 49ers are brilliant, picking on the stupidest franchise in modern sports.

HA! I've been reading this forum since you guys took Reid from us. I was of course estatic to see Andy go, but was enticed to sign up and post after this deal because it's a typical Andy move. I hate that man.

I'd say it looks like the Chiefs didn't want to get into a bidding war for Alex if he hit the open market, so we went ahead and grossly overpaid for him in terms of draft picks. Either way, they wanted him on the team and knew they were going to take it in the shorts to get him here, but went ahead and did it anyway.

Not that it matters anyway, and I'm certainly not someone "in the know" with the Chiefs and their dealiings, but rumor has it that this deal was done TWO WEEKS AGO. Makes sense when you factor in what Clark and Dorsey said when Dorsey was first introduced to the KC media. Add to that the rumors of Reid wanting to get Alex last year in Philly, and there you go.

If you're going to be a Chiefs fan there are some things you need to know in order to fit in. I'll add the first ten and others can beef up the list.

1. There was a kicker in the 1990s who wore #2. Don't talk about that kicker.

2. It is perfectly acceptable to schedule vacations during the playoffs. If you want to be safe, maybe hold the first week of the playoffs.

3. When discussing the Trent Green offenses, you must remove your hat and speak in hushed tones.

4. Don't ever criticize a Chief who was active prior to 1971. Minor exceptions to this are that you can criticize Stenerud for the miss in 1971 and you can poke fun at Fred Arbanas' glass eye.

5. Don't mention Derrick Thomas' illegitimate children. And do not say that he was one-dimensional. He was one-dimensional the same way a nuclear explosion is one-dimensional.

6. You may already know this, but we are not fans of veteran free agent quarterbacks. What you may not know is that the last drafted Chiefs quarterback to win a game was drafted in 1983.

7. On that note, we're mad at the quarterback who was drafted in 1983.

8. The Broncos cheat, and Elway was a mediocre quarterback who attained big stats because he was never held accountable.

9. We laugh at the Raiders and forget that the Chargers are in the division.

10. Otis Taylor and Johnny Robinson should be in the Hall of Fame, and Will Shields got stiffed this year.

Uhhh Rain Man, we don't laugh at the Faid because they've owned the keys to Arrowhead since 2007.

I think I got this figured out now - Reid doesn't see any value in 2nd round picks. He got a 2nd for A.J. Feeley and a 2nd for Kolb, therefore 2nd round picks = shit QBs in his eyes.

Not sure about that; AIDS does a pretty good job at attacking the health of it's host, AIDS runs pretty rampant in the gay community, san fransisco has a pretty good record of being populated by gays.

Just connecting dots here.
