So Guillen is a Royal now?

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3140604

NASHVILLE -- Outfielder Jose Guillen and the Kansas City Royals have reached a preliminary agreement for a three year, $36 million deal, a relative of the ballplayer told ESPNdeportes.com.

Guillen
The agreement will be complete when Guillen passes a physical exam, scheduled for Tuesday.

Guillen, 31, hit .290 with 23 home runs and 99 RBIs in 153 games with the Seattle Mariners last season. He had an opportunity to become a free agent when the Mariners declined an option of $9 million for 2008.

In 11 seasons with eight different teams, Guillen hit .274 with 166 home runs and 673 RBIs.

The outfielder averaged 27 home runs and 88 RBIs between 2003 and 2005 but was limited the next two seasons by wrist and right elbow operations.

Last week, Guillen was questioned by the commissioner's office about his appearance on a list of baseball players who bought human growth hormone and steroids from a clinic in Florida, which is under federal investigation.

According to records from the Rejuvenation Center of Palm Beach, Guillen spent more than $19,000 for hormones and steroids between May 2002 and June 2005.

"We told the commissioner's office my version of this whole affair, which in some ways has been handled with some errors in the media," Guillen told ESPNdeportes.com last weekend.

Enrique Rojas is a reporter and columnist for ESPNdeportes.com and ESPN.com.

I'm not saying we should lose him because you can use players like that, but it wouldn't hurt to trade him either.

I like David, but... is it good for the company?
That's what I'm trying to explain to petegz28, but you pretty much nailed it.

especially since we've got some decent OF'ers in the minors. you don't need 3 all-star OF'ers to be successful.

and Teahan hasn't showed enough power to be at 1B.

I would say he is above average fielding with an average arm. He is not a leadoff hitter which is where he has been forced to play. As far as speed goes he has it but our old coaches never cared to teach him how to run the bases. That was evident with Gathright as well.

Eitehr way DeJesus is a good, solid player and I would be hard pressed to trade him. There better be something good in the works. It better not be for a Davies!

All signs do point to Teahen not being in the opening day lineup this year, unless he plays first base or something.

I don't like that idea at all. Keep him RF or trade him. I am just peachy with Gload at 1st base with Butler for the occassional spell for another season if it means we can focus on pitching or catching.

The Cubs have asked about Teahen for Matt Murton, and the Royals aren't trading him.

He's another guy who can do some things right, but really, it's hard to see where he fits for us.

I like Murton. His numbers is pretty solid, just that for whatever reasons, the Cubs refuse to play him.

Even that, I think Teahen has a higher ceiling than Murton does.

Tigers got a good deal, but Florida is getting some nice players in return.

Ok it's Miller Maybin and 4 prospects...

Renteria, Guilen, Ordonez, Sheff, Granderson, Polanco and Cabrera..holy crap....well they'll score more runs than any team in this division by a huge degree.

AJC says no way on DDJ and CJ:

http://www.ajc.com/blogs/content/sha...omment-2017402

They’re not in talks with Royals about DeJesus. Royals aren’t looking to trade him as of now, because they have him penciled in at center unless they get Andruw.

Royals are getting Guillen and then hope to get either Andruw or the Japanese pitcher, too. They’ve got the money to spend on one of those guys in addition to Guillen.

Also, I’m told by someone with Royals that they view Chuck James as a “breakdown waiting to happen” because of his size, delivery, etc. They’re not interested it trading anything valuable for him, if interested in him at all….
