They could improve their uniforms 100x by slapping that dawg logo on the side of their helmets.

Backing up my claim now:
Copywriting Grammar Ain't Perfect
Break the rules. It's OK. You're not writing for your high school English teacher. Present your copy in a casual but professional way. http://www.entrepreneur.com/article/198294 Copywriting Basics: Giving Grammar a Break Copywriting doesn't necessarily demand the strictest observance to formal English grammar. Because your objective is to build an empathetic rapport with your readers, you want to write the way they speak. Depending on the circumstances and your intended audience, using slang, sentence fragments, contractions, colloquialisms, and so on is perfectly acceptable... http://www.dummies.com/how-to/conten...r-a-break.html ABC Copywriting: Five grammar rules it’s OK to break http://www.abccopywriting.com/blog/2...ts-ok-to-break Those who have a problem with it, aren't the audience targeted for a specific public. What that means, it was not written for you. I don't see it as any different than a salesman ( copywriting is selling basically) changing up their clothing and lingo if they are selling to grease monkey in a car repair shop or a corporate exec, academic or any other public. It's who your public is and if they will respond and trust you. |

1. Cleveland is not in the south. It makes no sense, geographical or cultural, for the Browns to spell dog with an 'aw' for the purpose of adding a southern drawl to the pronunciation. 2. My point of the google search comment is that a person who hears a team referred to orally as the Dawg Pound is going to google search the term Dog Pound, because they have no idea that the team is spelling it differently. It would be confusing. Therefore, I think it's far more likely that the person that made the logo is slightly undereducated, and merely spelled the word incorrectly by mistake. That is much more reasonable than your explanation. |

Really, I said I didn't really know. I only speculated as to why it could be that way.
Quote:
It may not be, and doesn't have to to matter. Certainly not what I was alluding to. Could be just to be different from what people think of a dog pound, to keep their identity separate. However, I've seen the word "nawth" used as a spelling mocking "nawthun" accents too. In fact I've used it to copy it. Quote:
It was coined BEFORE the internet. I would think their public know how it is spelled by now. You can't suddenly change it. Again, I said I didn't know their rational and simply posed some possibilities. It comes up dog for that and some are for the Dawg Pound fyi. Quote:
But you're free to reject it. I would ask the Browns why, myself. You sound more like you're on the web side of the industry? Last edited by BucEyedPea; 02-24-2015 at 02:18 PM.. |
