****Official 2013-14 Missouri Tiger Football Repository Thread****

We have two things to look forward to this year:

1) The potential beginning of the Maty Mauk Era. Mauk represents the best chance for this program to get back to a level of respectability after horrendous QB play cost us multiple games last year.

2) The last year of the Gary Pinkel era. Pinkel's entrenched cronyism won't play in a conference this competitive, especially if he couples his abysmal gameday coaching with lackadaisical, worst-in-conference recruiting. Pinkel was the formerly adequate meal that has now turned into a four pound bowel obstruction. It's time to jam a Fleet's enema up our collective asses.

Here is the schedule. We dodge Alabama, LSU, and Arkansas in the west and the Non-con is decidedly weaker than years past.

8/31: Murray State
9/7: Toledo
9/21: @ Indiana
9/28: Arkansas State
10/5:@ Vanderbilt
10/12: @ Georgia
10/19:Florida
10/26: South Carolina
11/2:Tennessee
11/9: @ Kentucky
11/23: @ Ole Miss
11/30: aTm

Looks like 6-6. Undefeated in non-con, 2-6 in league play.

I will eventually update the OP with a list of high profile in-state recruits that decide to go elsewhere after a half-assed attempt to gain their services. The inevitable cavalcade of *** rejects, skeezers, skanks, and scalliwags we get will fill out the ranks.

Razors, cyanide capsules, and Jonestown Kool-Aid are available in the break room. Second door on the left.

Since every Mizzou thread eventually dies of AIDS, I recommend starting anti-retroviral therapy immediately. I believe Walgreens covers Express Scripts.

Premium In-State Players:

Roderick Johnson: **** OT, Florissant, MO.
Monte Harrison: **** WR, Lee's Summit, MO.
Jimmy Swain: **** LB, Lee's Summit, MO

Commitment List: From to and possibly

Spoiler!

One more thing re: Texas Bowl vs. Navy...

Quite a bit different motivation to play vs. a top 5 team in a league championship game with a potential national title shot on the line than against a service academy after getting bowl snubbed again.

Defending the option and remaining disciplined are things that require effort and focus. Gotta be motivated to maintain those for an entire game.

Missouri coach Gary Pinkel has already earned $200,000 in bonuses for the Tigers’ 11-1 season and could make even more under the terms of his contract if they keep winning.

He earned a $50,000 bonus for guiding Missouri to Saturday’s SEC championship game against Auburn in Atlanta and his staff — nine assistant coaches and three others — will share a $60,000 bonus, which bumps up to $65,000 with a win against Auburn.

Pinkel also has earned a $25,000 bonus for reaching 11 victories this season and a $125,000 bonus because the Tigers’ average home attendance (63,505) was higher than 55,000.

If the Tigers are selected for a BCS game, Pinkel receives and additional $100,000 — $150,000 if it’s the BCS National Championship Game — and his nine assistants would receive the equivalent of three-month’s base salary as a lump-sum bonus.

Bring home a national title, and those bonuses jump to $250,000 for Pinkel and four-month’s base salary for his assistant coaches.

If Missouri winds up outside the BCS, the bonus will be $75,000 and one-month’s base salary as a lump-sum bonus for his assistants.
Pinkel, 61, signed a two-year contract extension in April 2011 that runs through the 2017 season. It pays him $2.6 million a year.

Among other contract bonuses Pinkel can trigger:
• SEC coach of the year, $25,000.
• National coach of the year (American Football Coaches Association or Associated Press), $50,000. Pinkel was announced Tuesday as a finalist for the Maxwell coach of the year award.
• Top 25 final BCS ranking ($50,000) or top 10 ranking ($75,000).

Two From SEC Are Finalists For MFC Coach Of The Year

(Fire Pinkel!!1)

The Maxwell Football Club (MFC) announced today three finalists for the Club's Collegiate Coach of the Year Award. Two of the three finalists are coaches from the Southeastern Conference in Auburn's Gus Malzahn and Missouri's Gary Pinkel, with the other finalist being Duke's David Cutcliffe.

Malzahn has orchestrated the most remarkable turnaround in college football this season, leading Auburn from a 3-9 record in 2012, which included an 0-8 mark in SEC play, to an 11-1 record in 2013. In his first year as Auburn head coach, the No. 3 Tigers are 7-1 in conference play and are set to face off with Pinkel's Mizzou team this weekend in the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta.

Pinkel has also led his team an impressive turnaround in just one year's time. After finishing 5-7 a season ago, Missouri heads into its showdown with Auburn this week at 11-1 and ranked No. 5 in the BCS standings. In Mizzou's first season in the SEC last year, the Tigers managed just two conference wins. This year, they are 7-1 in conference play and champions of the Eastern Division.

Voting is now open for the finalist selection for the MFC Collegiate Coach of the Year. Eligible voters include, NCAA Bowl Subdivision Head Coaches and Football Sports Information Directors, Maxwell Football Club members and selected national media. The winner announcement will be made on December 19, 2012 and the award will be formally presented at the 77th Maxwell Awards Gala which will be held in March 2014 in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

I'm not just talking about the breakthrough campaign and march to the SEC title game. I'm also talking about the complete turnaround in recruiting.

All indications are that Mizzou is going to close this recruiting cycle on a significant upswing and possibly crack the top 20 in recruiting rankings.

**** WR Dominique Booth is open again and looking heavily at Mizzou
*** OL Brian Wallace is a Mizzou lean (Army All-American)
**** WR/TE Frank Ihenacho
**** DE Dante Sawyer (tough battle with SCAR)
*** LB Niles Sykes
*** Sharieff Rhaheed

A few of the key targets there.
2013 Auburn

I'm not familiar with their recruiting though.

God that game was awful. They clearly weren't ready to play, on either side of the ball, and it showed. Probably the most lackluster performance and embarrassing loss in, well, as long as I can remember.

The only good thing about it was I was in the Navy, so that mitigated my personal pain a little.

If I remember that Texas Bowl correctly - Gabbert had gained around 15 lbs during Christmas break and looked out of shaped and unprepared.

True to form, Yost refused to run the ball against two man defensive fronts.

Good times.....

That's right...Navy literally had two DLs, and we wouldn't run. I was speechless.
