Final Fantasy VII on Steam

Final Fantasy VII is on Steam for $12 bucks. Time for some serious retro gaming.

One of my favorite games ever. And 12 bucks? I'll play the shit out of it.

I nearly ruined the Final Fantasy 6 experience for myself when I discovered a the "River Trick".

The part where the player chooses which direction they want to travel while on a raft in the river. If you choose the right direction at a certain point, you can achieve an EXP loop.

I did the trick on a computer with the CPU governor turned off. I let it run for an hour and all of my game characters were unbelievably powerful. It took the fun out of the game.

I love this and every FF game up to FFX. The music alone is incredibly good.

FFVII is a game I Just have no desire to play again. I mean I beat the **** out of this game. I had that fastest Chocobo on the planet, all of the overpowered summons, everyone's ultimate limit breaks, ass-tons of mastered materia (which creates a 2nd 'virgin' materia with each mastered piece)... I mean everything.

Just out of curiosity though, what would be the benefits of playing this vs. the one copy I've had on my playstation for over a decade?

Oddly enough, I've never 100% completed the game though. I don't think I ever beat any of the Weapons (I distinctly remember getting my ass curbstomped by the one that swam around under the ocean. It was a ****ing slaughterhouse.). I've also never leveled a single character all the way up to 99. I don't have the patience for that shit.
No. Me either.

I hit the upper 70's and found no point in grinding that out. I could kill anything. I want to think there was ONE weapon I didn't get....

Maybe it was the one that swam around under the ocean?

It's been so long since I played it, but I just remember the Ruby Weapom that was out in the desert and the one under the ocean. The one underwater slaughtered me- it was savage. I had the Knights of the Round as well. That thing had to have had 1,000,000,000,000 hit points...

The game's kind of a pain in the ass to play on a keyboard. (I'm about 6 hours in.) My son claimed I could plug one of our wired 360 controllers into a USB port and play it that way. I was skeptical, but he was right. Works like a charm.

I didn't realize that anyone did not know this.. it has been this way since 360 came out. In fact I had a converter and a special driver and did it with original xbox back in the day.
