Geno Smith, why are people down on him

So I didn't get to see every single game that he played this year but did see most.

He not only seems to have all of the athleticism that you could want in a quarterback but also all of the intangibles in terms of leadership.

On the radio both stations keep talking about him not being in the same class as luck or RGIII , my question is why not???

Here is my reasoning: We all know what type of difference a good coaching staff makes and how it transitions to the players ae. matt cassel with charlie weis

WVA coaching staff is not very good, their offensive line was like Swiss cheese and their defense was possibly the bottom 5% in all of Division I football, putting him consistently in bad situations.

If he had been playing for Alabama, Florida, ND, etc etc people would be touting him like luck or RGIII

I didn't see anything this year from him that would make someone believe that he doesn’t have all of the tools to be an elite QB.

Just on the wrong college team to put his draft stock at #1

So backing into the playoffs with shit at qb was going to get us a Super Bowl last year?

I would've taken rg3 over a playoff appearance last year.

We weren't even close to getting RG3 last year.

I meant "early" as in draft a QB in round 2.
Anyway, good question about who to pick # 1 overall. I'm first trying to trade the # 1 overall pick. I'd LOVE to be able to do that. Are we keeping Albert? Bowe? Need to know that before I make my pick. The deal is, this is not the draft to get the # 1 overall pick. NOBODY stands out as worthy. Honestly, after thinking about it, if I couldn't trade down, I'd probably draft Geno - especially with the new CBA.

Sorry but there's a logical fallacy in your idea.

If there's no QB worth the #1 pick then nobody is going to want to trade up.

Kinda. I mean, if we lose the Chargers, Bears, Packers, Donks, and Indy game that puts at what, 3-13? We definitely should have lost the SD MNF game, were fluke hailmary from losing the Bears game IIRC, the Packers game was a mirage, and somehow managed a comeback on the worst team last year. That's just off the top of my head.

Probably correct. That's why I said that if that were the case, I'd probably draft Geno.

If you look at our draft class, Griffin is definitely worth Poe, Allen, Stephenson, plus future picks IMO.

The downside being we would have likely kept Pioli/crennel. :|

We were when the Suck 4 Luck campaign started. It wasn't until that movement got started that we started to win meaningless games.
and this was well before anyone knew the Redskins would jump to #2 to pick RG3 because his stock wasn't that high yet.

I'm just trying to make sure that everybody knows this isn't JUST about Geno.

This is about weighing the options, looking at every position, the top players available (Lotulelei, Te'o, Joeckel, etc.), the existing roster and COMING TO THE CONCLUSION that, after examining all of the facts, drafting Geno is the best choice.
