Geno Smith Escorted off airplane by police for verbal altercation

Apparently he was upset with their seating policy. Can't you see Brady, Manning or Rodgers doing this?

Geno Smith Allegedly Escorted Off Plane By LAX Cops [UPDATE]
Geno Smith Allegedly Escorted Off Plane By LAX Cops [UPDATE]
SEXPAND
Jets quarterback Geno Smith was apparently escorted off a Virgin America flight at LAX today by police after what a witness called a "verbal altercation."

The photo you see above was sent to us by a reader who witnessed the incident and says the shot came "moments before" Smith was escorted out of the airport by cops. Our tipster wasn't the only person who saw it:

@JimmyTraina I don't have video, but I'm at LAX and just saw a Geno Smith fiasco yelling at Virgin America workers. Escorted by cops LOL

— Mark Rue (@markyOso) January 17, 2014
We're working on getting more details, but it looks like Geno's weekend isn't off to a great start.

Update (7:11 p.m.): Our tipster fills in some details:

We were waiting for our flight at LAX to Vegas and were put on standby on Virgin American just like Geno. We were told to get seat assignment at 2:40. Apparently Geno was not on board with that. My friend walked over to discuss seat assignment and Geno was saying to airline ticket agents, "**** that, this is bullshit." "Why the **** do I have to wait until 2:40." He would not let it go. He continued to curse and be loud for about 5 minutes. Police were called. They talked for a few minutes and then 3 officers escorted him out of the terminal.

The problem is the kids inconsistency.

If I do the worst 5 games of the year, Alex wins hands down because Geno had some horrific outings.

Most rookies are inconsistent, but Geno had games that he played so bad it was embarrassing for us that were fans of his in college.

Same problem then, but in the pros those deficiencies were magnified.

Geno cost his team games. I think he'll do it again. He's also not very mature, this thing didn't help. Can he turn it around, sure, I wouldn't bet everything on it.

Alex Smith is ready right now to lead this team.

For as good as Geno was when he was at his best, he was equally as bad when he was at his worst.

Genos worst 5 games

.7 Buffalo
1.6 Miami
3.8 Baltimore
4.1 Cincy
6.5 Pittsburgh

OUCH a total of only 16.7

Alex had some rough outings, too.

Alex worst 5 games

11.1 Indy
22.3 Oakland
25.5 Denver
25.7 Philly
30.5 buffalo

For a total of 115.1

I'd also like to note that both players were learning the same system coached by very similar minds. Marty Morningwig was Andy's OC for awhile in Philly and BOTH guys struggled early in the year and made strides toward the end.

I think that's to be expected when dealing with installing a new west coast offense with a lot of verbiage and terminology that's different than what they were used to by previous coaching.

Alex's best QBR was when he threw a bunch of screens to Jamaal Charles in Oakland.

So seriously people here think we should be comparing Alex vs Geno rookie season versus year 8 for Alex. And you think this is a fair comparison? Really?

I mean don't look at Alex's rookie season where he was 1 / 11 TD / INT's

Nope that would be totally unfair.

How can you say that when you have mentioned previously that you didn't watch any of Genos games?

And I don't care about the stat line. You need to watch the games if you are gonna comment on them.

Geno won player of the week for that game, when he beat the pats. OBVIOUSLY the people that voted agreed with the total QBR rating.

Like I said, consistency is Genos problem and its clear as day that its an issue with controlling his emotions. NY should have the best resources in the world to deal with that and if they do, they just might have a star quarterback for the next 10-15 years.

I'd like to think I was partially right in that if we had drafted Geno, Andy would be in his head every day and he would be able to learn from Alex, too. Andy is a GREAT teacher and I would like to think he would have worked miracles with Geno in dealing with his ups and downs...but that's the optimist in me, of course.

Even when we do, it's not as glaringly off as some might think.

Also remember, Geno is out there basically ALONE. All of his receivers are garbage/replacement level guys.

Donnie Avery would have probably been their best receiver.

If that team puts a couple receivers around him that can make plays and give him a tight end that can win a few matchups, the kid is gonna grow into the role of franchise quarterback in NY over the next 2 years.

People bitch about the receivers Alex has to work with, but fail to recognize that our receivers look like Jerry Rice robot clones compared to the scrap heap Geno had to work with.

Give Geno a Jamaal Charles and a Dwayne Bowe and see what happens.

I wouldn't be surprised if Maclin goes there and they draft someone with a high pick, too.

They need to gets sow weapons for him to work with.
