****Official 2013-14 Missouri Tiger Football Repository Thread****

We have two things to look forward to this year:

1) The potential beginning of the Maty Mauk Era. Mauk represents the best chance for this program to get back to a level of respectability after horrendous QB play cost us multiple games last year.

2) The last year of the Gary Pinkel era. Pinkel's entrenched cronyism won't play in a conference this competitive, especially if he couples his abysmal gameday coaching with lackadaisical, worst-in-conference recruiting. Pinkel was the formerly adequate meal that has now turned into a four pound bowel obstruction. It's time to jam a Fleet's enema up our collective asses.

Here is the schedule. We dodge Alabama, LSU, and Arkansas in the west and the Non-con is decidedly weaker than years past.

8/31: Murray State
9/7: Toledo
9/21: @ Indiana
9/28: Arkansas State
10/5:@ Vanderbilt
10/12: @ Georgia
10/19:Florida
10/26: South Carolina
11/2:Tennessee
11/9: @ Kentucky
11/23: @ Ole Miss
11/30: aTm

Looks like 6-6. Undefeated in non-con, 2-6 in league play.

I will eventually update the OP with a list of high profile in-state recruits that decide to go elsewhere after a half-assed attempt to gain their services. The inevitable cavalcade of *** rejects, skeezers, skanks, and scalliwags we get will fill out the ranks.

Razors, cyanide capsules, and Jonestown Kool-Aid are available in the break room. Second door on the left.

Since every Mizzou thread eventually dies of AIDS, I recommend starting anti-retroviral therapy immediately. I believe Walgreens covers Express Scripts.

Premium In-State Players:

Roderick Johnson: **** OT, Florissant, MO.
Monte Harrison: **** WR, Lee's Summit, MO.
Jimmy Swain: **** LB, Lee's Summit, MO

Commitment List: From to and possibly

Spoiler!

Georgia is not a better team than Mizzou...not at full strength...not at half strength.

I completely disagree. They were down elite playmakers at wr and tb and it was a 2 point game in spite of it in the 4q. Now their tb replacements for our game were adequate but nowhere near elite. Gurley is the best back in the country IMO. But their receivers were awful. Injuries have destroyed their season just like they did ours last yr.

Ewwww, I don't know about that. When Gurley was healthy, they had one of the best running attacks in the country. I don't think there is a definitive on your statement. I will say however that my boy Matt Mauk is tearing it up down there, his brother was a baller at Cinci, I was hoping we would offer Matt, but we didn't.

Anyways, I love Mizzou coming in and tearing up the SEC, good luck to you guys for the rest of the season!

What goes around comes around.

Last year, the mantra from other SEC fans was "Mizzou sucks". Nevermind the injuries that completely decimated our O-Line, our QB hobbled all season, our #1 RB out the whole year . . . . now the other teams are having theirs this season and all I hear is "well, but, we're not at full strength . . . ."

**** that! Bunch of pussies! We constantly heard how Mizzou couldn't compete in the SEC because we didnt have 'SEC depth', whatever the **** that is.

So, Georgia and Florida, tell me where your 'SEC depth' is?? Shouldn't "great" programs like that be able to overcome injuries??

And, still, we almost beat both teams last year! We controlled the game against Georgia until the 4th quarter and should have beat Florida in the Swamp, if not for 4 INT's by a not fully healthy Franklin.

Mizzou is not going away anytime soon! We will be competing in the SEC every year, barring a catastrophic turn of injuries (see what I did there). Are we Alabama? No, nor will we ever be. But we ARE in that second tier in the SEC, competing with just about everyone else. We will be a perennial Top 25 team in the SEC with the occassional 'break-through' season where we compete for the top prize in the East.

And if they still want to put us down and not respect us after that, then **** em!

Nothing more needs to be said.

First of all you're right.

Second, I think it played into the perception going into last yr as people were either skeptical or unsure as to how well we'd do. So when the results reflected that perception it was all too easy to gloss over the injuries. Whereas GA was more of a known quantity this yr so the impact of injuries are more easily recognized.

The one benefit is it led to Yost's ousting. We are far better off.

To your point I can't imagine anyone not just being thrilled at this point. It's MU and we beat GA and Fla on consecutive weekends and are 7-0 what do you want?

Our opps seem to be all catching the bad breaks w/ injuries that hit us last year. That's football as it usually evens out over time but it is kinda strange that it would happen to 2-3 of them all at once the very next year.
You really shouldn't pet the troll. It takes a special kind of miserable bitch to pick apart game threads after the fact looking for heat-of-the-moment posts they don't approve of and squeal about them. There are two kinds of people who would be happy with Pinkel opting to punt on 4th and 1 inside the 50 and then seeing Florida run the ball down our throats and score a touchdown that made the game uncomfortably close - Florida fans and reeruns.

It's also wonderful that this team is doing things that it hasn't done in decades. But that also means the team failed to do those things for decades, including the past 13 seasons.

It wasn't that long ago that Alabama wasn't Alabama (back in the Shula/Francione/Dubose years). They'll have down years again. I think you're being too definitive.

It's a Monday, I feel like shit, and I want to run my mouth, so here are a few things that I've noticed/think:

  • Fans should not fret/worry about rankings or perception of disrespect from the national media. Who gives a shit what they think? In fact, it's an advantage to be underhyped and overlooked. I don't think it's a coincidence that this team has shit the bed after its highest profile victories and rankings (moving up to #1 in '07, beating OU in '10). Let the talking heads banter about that stupid shit. Don't worry about it. Just focus on the next team.
  • Stop talking about Atlanta. Don't tempt fate. Any fan of Missouri should know that you don't take the slightest thing for granted. We can't trust officials to count downs, and we can't expect that a ball won't be illegally kicked into the air to be caught by another diving receiver. For all we know, an AIDS comet could hit CoMo right before the next game. Focus on South Carolina, beat their ass, and then think about the next game. Don't get ahead of yourselves
  • Pinkel's in-game coaching is still extremely worrisome. I understand the desire to be conservative against a team with a bad offense, but in two straight conference games we've gotten blitzed out of halftime. That needs to stop.
  • For all the rightfully deserved props given to the players and coaches this year, recruiting is still abysmal. The staff needs to take advantage of this season. If they don't, this team is going to be a one-year wonder, not a perennial contender in the conference, and it has the resources and facilities to do that.
That doesn't mean that you shouldn't be ecstatic about the year so far, but don't start sucking dicks in celebration just yet, either.

You're a child. You have zero sense of perspective, as you lack the ability to see anything other than what is right in front of you.

Should one of the lawyers at your firm call for your job if you drop a file folder? I mean, what if you had made excellent coffee every day all week long, transferred all the calls to the correct extensions for six straight weeks, and even got a great deal on a color advertisement on the back of a phone book? Should that be taken into account? I feel like it should.

Not you, though. Let's fire the coach...of an undefeated team...at halftime...of a game he is winning... Fire your way to championships! Learn from Kansas!

If I were to check your post history in Cardinals threads, how many "fire LaRussa" posts would I find? I'm guessing more than zero.

If not for David Freese and Lance Berkman, LaRussa would be largely remembered for managing for so long that he forgot how to correctly use a bullpen phone.

Great post. I'll disagree about getting blitzed after halftime against Florida, though. Baggett kicked the ball to the opposite side of the field of his coverage (per his own admission), and they had the easiest return TD I've ever seen. We answered every time Florida showed any life, and we out gained them 500-150.

We literally blew out Florida in a game that could have had a much larger margin.

If players don't make plays, managers don't look smart. I'll grant you that, but it's not exactly an epiphany.

And you're a pure miserable ****. Team's 7-0, and all can do is try to use it as an excuse to point your shitstained finger at people and go NANANANANA. Is this a side effect of a Kansas resident rooting for Missouri? You're so conflicted, SaulMonitor. I guess it's your inner beaker lashing out at all of us Missouri people. You really should just come out of the closet and be the Wickedson you were always meant to be.

And no one's calling for Pinkel's job anymore, nor have they for most of the season. But hey, keep lying your little lies. Just like when your wife says she's going to the market but comes home two hours later all sweaty with her blouse buttoned wrong.

I'm miserable? I enjoy watching my team go 7-0. I'm capable of doing it without calling for Pinkel to be fired at halftime, calling him a pussy for punting when we have a two touchdown lead and have held the opponent to 50 yards of offense midway through the third quarter, and generally demanding that we win every game by 100 points.

This team was expected to win 6.5 games per Vegas. If the season ended today, Pinkel would be the National Coach of the Year. First time South Carolina gains a yard, you'll be out for blood, though.
