I seriously don't think GENO is the pick at #1 for the Chiefs
Takes two to tango. Can't trade down if nobody wants to. BPA takes positional need and positional value into account. It has to, not doing so would be madness. There is a reason the first 5 picks last year for GB went on defense. Now yes I completely agree that Dorsey is not going to draft only on positional need but his big board is going to be affected by the team he drafts for.

I haven't weighed in on who I think the Chiefs should select in this draft.
I know everyone is on pins and needles for what I think so here goes.

Get ready to fap......

Overhaul this quarterback position from top to bottom with two NFL players to begin with.

First the Chiefs sign Alex Smith, We need an experienced QB badly. Next sign Chase Daniel, he would be great for a third string QB. I think he is a make things happen type of QB and a scrambler which Reid tends to favor.

And with the first pick take Geno Smith! Have them all compete for the starter position. My take would be start Alex with the intent to have Geno start later in the season.

What do you guys think? (be merciful)

Alex Smith will only sign with a team in which he'll be the undisputed starter for at least two years. The guy will not settle as a backup, nor should he settle.

With the group of teams that are likely to be in the Alex Smith sweepstakes, what are you telling Alex Smith to make him select KC? Cause he isn't going to select it on his own knowing what you are planning. What are we giving up for Smith in a trade? Is it worth it considering you are drafting a guy at 1.1 to be a starter? I mean you don't draft a guy at 1.1 to be competition.

Chiefs shouldn't give up the farm for Alex obviously, maybe a number five pick and some cash. Chiefs don't tell him what they have planned anyway they are providing him a job is all. This is just a plan don't get so uptight just food for thought type of opinion.

This isn't baseball: Cash isn't part of a trade.

Furthermore, dicking around players won't make the Chiefs attractive to free agents, let alone, existing players.

Not uptight at all. Thought I did a good job being nice about it considering how much I don't want your plan to happen.

I honestly would rather use the 5th round pick. I don't see that being enough for him anyway with other teams looking at him. A team isn't going to draft a guy at 1.1 not expecting him to be the guy, especially at a position where it's not a rotation. The #2 QB needs to be a guy there to help the 1.1 QB, not one being pissed off that we gave him a job only to take it away. Alex is going to have his option of teams.

Thanks for your kindness, I appreciate it. What would you like to see happen?
Just the QB positions on this team.

1. Alex Smith won't come here to be a stop gap. If he was ok with being a stop gap/back up, he'd stay on his NFCC SF 49ers.

2. I don't understand the Chase Daniels infatuation around here. Strictly a Mizzou thing? The guy is a JAG, a back up JAG at that. We could replicate his role with anyone.

For as much as I doubt Chase is a viable starter in this league, I will concede he had a solid pre season last year.
