Ford vs Chevy: '00-'01 Half Ton
While confidence is high that this thread will burst into flames or spiral into chaos...I thought I'd give it a shot hoping some of you have a substantiated take. I know there are some whom dwell here that are current or former car dealers, wrenches, and what not.
Along with considering a Jeep Wrangler to replace my daily driver, I will also look at some 6 & 7 year old full-size trucks based on their affordability and abundance. I would love to hear some opinions on Ford F150 vs Chevy/GMC C/K 1500. |

Ford trucks have been the best sellers for 30 consecutive years for a reason.

Means jack shit, The only reason they have been best sellers is because of fleet orders and them being cheaper... There is no quality superiority or inferiority between chevy and ford.. I have owned both.. What you just wrote is pure propaganda... Are you the anti-rex??? |

In 1954, the Corvette was dead in the water and about to be discontinued by GM. It's straight 6 with 3 side draft one barrel carbs just couldn't compete as a sports car. Then they hired a guy named Zora Duntov who said he could save the Corvette with a new engine he designed. It was the first "small block" Chevy engine. The 265 cu in. engine. It not only produced nearly twice the horsepower of the 6 cyl. but it weighed less to boot. After producing the 283 and the 327, Chevy finally settled on the 350. All of them of the same design as the Duntov 265. The last I checked, an intake manifold from a 265 would fit on a 327. Talk about getting it right the first time!! Also, the Chevy 4.3 litre V6 is simply a 350 without the last two cylinders. For this reason, Chevy parts are much easier to find both in a parts store and a salvage yard. Ford likes to change shit every year so nothing will fit except that exact same year and model. Ford trucks outsell Chevy for a reason a couple of posters noted. They are cheaper and sell more fleet deals. They certainly aren't better.

I have an 03 F150. I bought it instead of a Chevy for a few reasons. I was told by a knowledgeable source that Chevy interiors tend to fall apart. Plus, the Ford cabin is quieter and safer. Just some food for thought.

Heres what I've owned since high school. Only troublesome one was the first one, but that was the one mom bought that i pretty much trashed, so the transmissions and rear end was self inflicted wounds. If you want a reliable tough truck, I always say go with a ford. I really don't think theres anything wrong with a chevy, but I don't plan on switching till i get a bad F-150.

According to Polk, there are more Chevy trucks regestered than ANY other truck. Ford trucks MAY out sell Chevy, but there is undeniable proof that Chevy's outlast Ford.
