Worst BBQ restaurant you've ever ate at?

Went to a place call A Little BBQ Joint in Independence today. Sign outside said Burnt Ends soon to be world famous, so I go in and get the burnt ends, BBQ beans, and Cole slaw. Sides weren't terrible, but the burnt ends taste like they had beef jerky rub, were fairly tough and the saltiest thing I've ever eaten. I'm not a picky eater and I could barely finish the burnt ends.

So, what's the worst place you've had BBQ?

I would live and die at Pizza Glen if I lived in Clinton. No reason to go anywhere else.

I'll keep looking, but I've been disappointed so many times that I'm beginning to lose hope, and tired of spending the money when I should just stick to local-caught seafood.
Nancy's in Sarasota is very good.....

2 stand out for me.

1. Some crappy place in Knob Noster MO right off the Highway. I heard it closed down and moved to Warrensburg. Roaches on the tables. Worse place I have ever eaten.
2. Stubby's in Hot Springs AR right across from Oaklawn. Sauce is terrible. McClard's is what I compare all AR BBQ to.

That was the first BBQ place I had ever been to and where I fell in love with smoked turkey and beans. Still my favorite combo and get it quite often at Joe's KC.

God I hope not. That is pretty strange though they just moved 3-6 months ago.

Worst BBQ i've ever had in my life. The sauce runs like water and the ribs are boiled....not just boiled...over boiled, bland and watery.
West Coast people don't know what good BBQ is, so they can get away with it. I've been to one BBQ place in LA/SF/SD that was above par for KC and it just recently opened: http://www.mapleblockmeat.com/ It's Texas style - but I prefer those spicy beans to the molasses-based KC beans anyway.

I understand NYC now has some really good serious BBQ places - but for a long time it was the same thing. My buddy ordered catering from a top-rated BBQ place in NYC in 2000. It was basically cooked meat with sauce dumped on it. I don't know if they smoked it at all.

When I first moved to LA abou the same time my asshole boss got food from the top-rated place in LA. The ribs were so tough you felt like a hyena pulling meat from bone with all your bite-force. I was like - am I being punked here? I literally almost choked to death on the tri-tip - got one lump down my throat and one in my mouth - attached by a piece of sinew. I finally pulled the lump down my throat up by yanking on the lump in my mouth.

In KC, one that's still in business is Wyandotte BBQ. Terrible.

When I go back to KC, I always buy Gates sauce to take back home with me, but I never go to the restaurant.

So that's, what? 5 votes for San Diego's KC BBQ?

I think we have a winner here, folks.

795 Yelp reviews....2.5 Star rating. Only thing keeping this place in business is the word "BBQ" and its great location.

I thought it closed down. I guess not. It's still a lot of fun when the Chiefs play in SD.
