First of all, I think Al ought to put me on the payroll as a good luck charm.
...the RAIDERS have won 6 straight when I attend games with the last 3 at a combined score of 93-9... A coaching friend of mine hooked this RAIDER fan up with a sideline pass and here are some observations (for anyone interested).....

The K ball needs to go! It feels like those plastic slippery basketballs from KMart... I'm amazed there aren't more fumbles by kick returners.

Whatever reason Rison was cut from KC had nothing to do with his physical condition..
He is in great shape and had a hop to his step... He was very well received by his teammates and the fans... I have a feeling he's going to do very well this season.

I watched Jano kick a few hours before the game..
un-friggen believable!!.. He cleared 68 yards with room to spare... I saw Elam up close during college and their leg strength is not even close..
Jano has had trouble adjusting to a 9 step approach rather than the 7 step kickoff approach at FLA ST... he also moves on the center snap rather than on the holder catching the long snap on FG's which is why he gets the ball up so fast.

The defense..young, athletic and agressive.. just the way I like it... great schemes planned (got to talk to Rob Ross, the LB coach)

Jerry Porter... amazing physical specimen... big, fast and confident..always talking to Tim Brown and Belitnikoff about routes.

Wheatley- Alot bigger than I thought he'd be... Gannon..
unquestioned vocal leader...

The rookies... alot of people questioned the draft because of Jano but Porter and Jr. Ioane have 1st round value, no doubt!.. Ioane looks like his knee is healed... playing like he did at Arizona St... he'll be a star, mark my words... Lechler has amazing punting ability and Fulcher also impressed... every pick will contribute this year.

And JoeSeahawk... never mind the questions about QB, etc..
You guys have troubles on the Offensive and Defensive lines.... I also caught the KC game in Vegas... all I can say is... your defensive schemes look AWFUL-ly familiar... Shaw's fingerprints are all over it......... enjoy!

HC Chief,

As a current "lamer" on the other board, I'm trying to determine who annoited you the King of Smack.

Anybody with an ounce of smack running through their veins knows you don't resort to name calling to bolster your arguments.

Injun,
My full time helmet wearing friend HC is referring to the NFLTalk board which is abundant with morons, not the Star BB.

Kphobia,

My pleasure... I had a blast.

hawaiinboy,

While Jano has this huge leg for making spectacular pregame FGs, do you honestly see Gruden trotting him out there for anything over 55 on a consistent basis? Too risky if you ask me.

If I had Jano on my squad I would be happy as a pearl infested clam if his numbers were;

under 40: 90%

41-50: 75%

50+: 50%

We'll see how Jano does with a NFL game on the line this year. That is the marker of a good FG kicker, not a 63 yarder before the half (ala Elam).

Injun,

There is no reason to have Jano try 55+ yard FG's in anything other than end of half or end of game scenarios.
It all still comes down to field position battles... why risk having the other team take over at near midfield in the event of a miss?

Watching Jano pregame is like watching McGuire take BP... the power is amazing....

Anything better than the sub 70% accuracy we've had lately is a plus.... the abiity to be able to boom one at the end does help playcalling very much though.
