This is about your general community or area, not about your specific house. Think of it as the metro area you live in, or the county you live in.

Poll coming as soon as I file of change of address form for it.

For me, I live in Denver because I got a job here. I didn't know anyone here and had never seen the city. However, I had always thought it would be a good place to live. My wife and I were generally targeting the region of the US that was west of the Austin-Minneapolis line, and generally excluding the Pacific coast states (per my wife's preference on the latter). A job came through in Denver and we jumped on it. That was 25 years ago, so obviously it was a good outcome.

But mom is still here, and she doesnt really have anyone to help with things... but when she passes, I could see making the move

Yeah, and I guess you never know when an emergency will hit the elderly parent.

My sister just moved four hours to live in the same town as my parents. But in her case it ended being a win-win because she had been wanting to move to that area anyway. I was glad to see it because I don't have any interest in moving back to Missouri.

Oh, yeah. She told me she was thinking about it, and I was all over it. It's a win-win-win until they start getting on each other's nerves. Which should take at least a month.

True. My dad grew up in Orland Park when it was damn near farm country (1940s) before moving into the city with his sister after his mother and father died.

He went back in 2010 and said it was his last visit. But he hates big cities, so I don't think he's feel differently about NYC or L.A..
