Glad the AP brought up the part about Vrabel being a usual non-attendant of OTAs or that they are OPTIONAL workouts.

Making a non-story out of a non-story. It's not like Vrabel was ever a rah-rah guy. He's a guy who's going to practice and play his ass off. And he will. People will write just about anything about anybody when they're bored.

It should be a story.

He was brought in here for his leadership. Pioli praised it when the trade happened. I can understand the guy is pissed about being dealt, and I would respect him more if he came out and said he was pissed rather than hiding behind the CBA excuse.

He should be here getting familiar with the new staff, his new teammates and the city. No, he shouldn't be here for every practice, but he should show his face once in a while.

For once we agree; this guy is pre season FAIL in every aspect. His absence combined with Goff's better example and Pioli's praise and expectations have made Scott Pioli look like a fool in this case.

You people wanna' talk about "getting paid" and "collecting a check"? Meet Mike Vrabel.
As it stands today, LJ has more clout than this mother****er IMO.

Listen up, Coalition Flunkie:

With the exception of finally showing his fat, old ass at MANDATORY mini-camp, Nike Vrabels actions have been in direct opposition to statements both Pioli and Haley have laid out in regards to expectations and the overall direction of this team.

If you can't see it or understand it, I'll introduce you to Barry's Kool Aid Vault so you can wash down the Blue Pill and go back to sleep!

"But the Chiefs’ bigger problem is that their best offensive lineman, four-time Pro Bowl guard Brian Waters, hasn’t made it clear he’ll play in Kansas City this season, and that leaves a gaping hole in a unit that couldn’t afford even a small hiccup."

"Waters, the Chiefs’ only remaining 2008 Pro Bowler, said he always skips voluntary workouts. He said that he hadn’t performed much conditioning work before the minicamp, and he indicated that he was uncertain about what might happen during the three months before the Chiefs’ regular-season opener."

"What the Chiefs don’t want is to begin another season leaning on a patchwork and aging group of linemen, particularly when the team is spending nearly $15 million to find out whether Matt Cassel can be its long-term quarterback."

He skipped an OPTIONAL workout. He has always skipped them because, rightfully so, he thinks it's bullshit that teams are making optional workouts mandatory. The fact that he's skipped in the past and is still a leader in Pioli's eyes tells you that Pioli could care less. And the fact that he showed up in great shape suggests that he's not skipping because he's lazy. His teammates know he wasn't skipping in rebellion against the Chiefs. They don't care. Why should we?

Again, you are all getting mad at him for being the kind of leader he isn't. Not all leaders are mentors. Some are leaders by example by their tough attitude and the way they play in practice and in games. That's what Vrabel is. Just like Jerry Rice was. YOu're all making an issue out of a non-issue.

Let me get this straight; He usually doesn't (at least in the recent past) show up for optional workouts, yet he still got the label of a leader??? How does that happen? He wasn't at the "OPTIONAL" workouts in New England? How can he ever be a leader on the chiefs defense if he wasn't at the "OPTIONAL" workouts?

So, you are saying that because he missed those "OPTIONAL" workouts he will probably not be leader? He "hid" behind the CBA excuse before becoming a chief, but that doesn't constitute a "NON STORY" now?
