i don't think your head has to even get hit to get a concussion.
a sharp force can rattle the brain around inside your skull and 'bruise' itself.

Let's not be ridiculous here.
NFL policy requires that a player consult an independent neurologist following a concussion. If Cassel isn't clear to play, it's because a non-Chiefs neurologist said he can't. The accusation that a team and a player would fake a concussion is a pretty serious one. Let's not make ourselves ridiculous by demonizing our player and GM for a conspiracy theory. We have plenty of ammo without banking on this. |

Having had a few myself, concussions are funny things. I've been knocked silly and seen stars, but OK. On the other hand, I've had a couple small hits to the back of the head and they've been the worst. I'm not about to speculate what happened, but I think it was one of those things the NFL is very PC about right now. The timing was pretty suspect, though.

The back of Cassel's head smacks the ground. If the person is already concussed(KO'd) the impact of their skull hitting the ground can actually wake them up (see Chuck Liddell vs Rampage Jackson II). However, you have 3 "sweet spots" on a human. Your chin, the spot behind your ears/temples, and the direct back of your skull.
It seems pretty apparent to me that Matt was concussed from smacking the back of his head on the ground. Needs to lift some weights and build up dat neck strength. |

Here is a good example about how the impact from someone already concussed hitting the ground can jolt them back awake. This works the other way in football, bc typically players aren't KO'd before they hit the ground. |

I'm actually not sure either. The only way his head could have hit the ground is if both his arms were immobilized and it looks like the left was free to brace the fall.

Watching that video I just started cheering uncontrollably.
That was a great run for a long first down.
