As someone who went through sniper school I can say that a lot of time goes into concealing yourself..you spend hours tying grass onto your ghillie suit and wrapping your rifle and your pack

Guys who are really good at it can have people walk by them and not see them..as that is part of the course they teach in Sniper School..you crawl through a field for about 100 meters with instructors walking through it..you get spotted you start over or get a No-Go

As for crawling up next to a tree in the middle of a field we were taught not to do that..the grass is normally thinner around trees..due to the tree taking more nutrients from the ground causing grass to be thinner
