I just don't see how spending both a 1st and 2nd round pick on the QB position (Geno and Alex) is a bad thing. Most teams spend far more than that to trade up to get a franchise QB.

The funny part is, we're talking about trading Branden Albert and drafting a guy with the #1 pick whose upside might be Branden Albert, if we're lucky, just to save a few million dollars a year. I mean, I might get the argument if we're replacing Albert with Orlando Ogden Roaf the third, but Joeckel ain't nothing special. There's four of five of him in the first round every year, and probably a few in the second from time-to-time.

The logic behind this (for the "fans") is just so bizarre. It's apparently okay to draft a "guy" at tackle at 1:1, but a quarterback has to be the love child of Bart Unitas and Otto Montana to justify the selection. I mean, shit, you read what some folks say on here, and they're like gleeful that the team doesn't appear to like Geno Smith.

Larry Fitzgerald isn't worth his contract.

Joe Flacco isn't worth his contract.

Does that mean those teams should have let those stars walk? What's the most we would be "overpaying" Branden Albert? To cement a key fixture to any team for 5 years, how much would we be overpaying what he's actually worth? 2 million/year?

To be honest, I think Brandon Flowers is getting overpaid. If we want to start throwing that bullshit around, we should trade HIS ass, then draft one of these ultra-talented guys who will drop in this draft.

THAT would be a smart "business" move. Flushing the #1 overall to save $4 million or so is idiocy.

Then why franchise him if they don't think he is worth it? They think he sucks, but then want a 2nd round pick. Weird.

Edit: Nevermind I guess they gave up a 2nd for a player the other team thought sucked.

Not liking Geno Smith is understandable, but arguable. Trading for Alex Smith and replacing Albert with Joeckel is rank incompetence.

So we're gonna pay top 10 money to a LT who can't even play a full season and has roughly 3 or 4 years of good play left in him before he declines?

This sounds like a good business plan.

Let's trade Hali and Flowers. Pay Albert, trade down for scraps, take a passrusher, CB with our new 2nd rounder, save a boatload of money.

Yay money!
