It's not sacrilege right now.....that's the thing. The reason that so many teams have started their rookie QBs the last couple of years are because of two things.

1. The team has literally nothing at QB and they don't have a choice.
2. They simplify the shit out of their playbook so that the rookie has a greater chance to succeed. i.e. Cam Newton.

I think Reid and Dorsey decided to go the route of trading for Alex Smith to stabilize the QB position and then drafting a QB that they can build up for the future. One year on the bench is going to be the best thing for Geno Smith.

I feel the same way. I still think that Chase was brought in strictly as a backup. If they draft Geno at 1.1......then either Alex or Chase is gone after 2013.

Sometimes its whats best. Looka t all the great talent that just flat out failed because as great as they were in college, they just werent ready for the BIGS.

Im on board with sitting him and giving him the best chance possible to succeed.
