Anyone going to go see this in the theaters? I bet it would sound amazing.

Not exactly the casino circuit. This year is one of their smaller tours too. They went through most of North America, India, and Japan last year.

Look, I'm not trying to denigrate Iron Maiden but 15 and 20,000 seat arenas in some cities isn't the same as 80,000 sear stadiums everywhere.

Furthermore, Iron Maiden has never had a release sell open at number in the US, let alone sell 1 million copies. Their biggest seller in the US was Fear of the Dark back in 1992, which sold 420,000 copies.

And yes, they are playing the casino circuit out West.

Not trying to slam Maiden but no way are they as popular as Metallica.

I love Iron Maiden but they're not in the same stratosphere as Metallica in terms of album sales, concert grosses and popularity,

Who cares if it sells #1? Lots of no talent hacks have had a album debut at #1. I would take Maiden's discography over Metallica's any day. I would take their output this decade over Metallica's. Metallica just doesn't have it anymore.

Looking at Metallica's tour this year they are playing a couple festivals, a 30,000 seat stadium in Japan, and an exhibition center in Singapore.

Yes, Rock in Rio is huge but it is a festival, which Maiden is also playing.

What's the point of your posts in this thread? That album sales and concert tour grosses are meaningless?

People started souring on Metallica for a number of reasons. Metallica vs Napster comes to mind, and i also remember when fans were calling them sellouts simply because they cut their hair and updated their style.

I, like most, really dig their early stuff. I haven't really heard anything since the Black Album that i can put on repeat. Admittedly, i haven't looked very hard either.

Do they have anything newer that sounds like "For Whom the Bell Tolls" or "Seek and Destroy"?

Dane has 'em all worked up. Dane knows my feelings about Metallica and their 19.98 list price on a 20 year old record. Ohhh and FWIW Ride the Lightning is still in my favorite albums of all time.

Install Spotify and check out Death Magnetic. Everyone has their own opinion but I think it's their best record since Ride.

I have to wonder if those that are saying Metallica sucks have listened to this album?
