...is packing and moving out today.

while I'm happy and proud for her, I'm pretty suprised how sad and melancholy I feel....

Mine just left for Homecoming. Feels just like a few months ago I could hold her with one hand (she was preemie and only 3 lbs. at birth).

The empty nest... its definitely a big deal, i feel for ya, both of mine left 10 years ago with their mother & its hard to get -un- used to your usual routines & being able to have daily, face to face input with them.

But you learn to stay in touch in other ways as best as possible, becoming the typical nagging parent... CALL SOON! lol... and you learn to enjoy watching them become full-fledged adults, with all of the triumphs & failures that come with it, knowing you did the best that you could.

She'll be fine, tell Ma to quit crying... best wishes.

My oldest (now 21) moved out three months ago. Luckily they bought a house close to home and we visit a couple times per week. Now, my youngest (turned 20 today) has been talking about moving out as well. I couldn't imagine having the house to just my wife and myself.
