Had my dog do it when i was 9. Multiple vet visits later found out there was nothing to find. He lived 8 more years and died of old age.

What breed? Some are really prone to seizures...lots of breeds, actually. Phenobarbital is awful. If the dog is fine shortly before and after the seizures, just let it go, IMO. It doesn't usually hurt them. PB really ****s them up. In my experience, the cure is worse than the condition.

The same thing happens to our dog. She usually is pretty lethargic right after, but it hasn't had any negative effect on her life.

My first dog had epilepsy. Same thing would happen but as others have said there are other things that can cause this so a trip to the vet is in order.

I know for sure it wasn't steroids. In fact if you had a heart at all you would get some steroids and lace the dogs food so it won't happen again.

Man there are a lot of reasons. Take him to the vet and get him checked out. Nobody here is an animal expert.

My sister's dog had seizures and it turned out to be Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever from a tick bite.

Could just be genetic. I had a dog that had seizures. We put her on medicine that would reduce the frequency but she still had them. She died at 13 which was in the average lifespan for the breed. Still get a vet to check it out.
