Santiago comes in with the disadvantage of not making a start in 13 days after he was skipped over during the last turn of the rotation. He only pitched out of the bullpen once in the interim -- a one-out appearance on Sunday -- but insists he has no issue with the extra rest.

"I've done it a bunch of times. I'm used to it," Santiago said.

Opposite Santiago, the Royals will turn to rookie righty Yordano Ventura, who has gone 3-1 with a 2.67 ERA across his last four starts.

Ventura's last outing against the Mariners was another impressive one -- a seven-inning, two-run affair that saw him register six strikeouts -- but he wound up taking the tough-luck loss on a go-ahead solo shot from Mike Zunino in the seventh inning.

If its not a getaway day, and it starts at 1pm, and its pretty much a guarantee that they'll eventually get it in, then they'll wait it out. What else do they have to do on a Saturday night?

This is the same rain & storm we had this morning around 6am.

I don't understand why they waited so long to resume the game. I was at the stadium and there was at least an hour or more period where there was no rain or lightning or anything. They could have easily resumed the game and got through the 5th or maybe even the 6th inning to make it an official game before the next round of rain showed up.

If there is a better chance to get the whole game in later, they will always take that option instead of a short game under the rules.

I didn't want a short game decided on a a rain out. Give our boys a chance to regroup and come back for the win.
