Biking Question

I have a Road Bike which I really enjoy riding. I am wanting to branch out a little and take up Gravel and maybe Cyclocross. I have tried MTB, and just didn't care for it.

Any suggestions, tips etc? I am looking at the Salsa Warbird and Trek line of bikes right now.

I will need to do some closer looking to see if I can figure out a year. I did see that it had a carbon sticker on it, not sure if that narrows it down or not

well since the OP said it was a Reynolds 853, I would think that points to it being an Reynolds aluminum frame, not carbon. According to Bicycle Blue book that points to the frame being a 2003 model year or older.

Ahhh gotcha. Bikepedia makes you select a year before you can select a submodel. It's not the easiest site to navigate, but they do usually have good information once you find what you're looking for

Agreed. I use it and bicycle blue book all the time when looking at used bike prices.

It becomes even harder when the bike has been modified and the value calculations get thrown out the window

I always learn something here. I have an older Trek hybrid bike and figured it was worth maybe $50. Went to the blue book site and found out it's worth about 3x that much. Who knew?

853 was/is a steel alloy frame, I think. The fork might be carbon. My old Bianchi has an aluminum frame and a carbon fork.

Usually it would be worth $50. Bikes are hard to come by. If you don't want it, sell it now while the market will buy it for inflated prices.

You have to take into consideration that used bike prices are through the roof right now. Bicycle shops are having a tough time getting new bike inventory so buyers are going to the used bike market to find rides.

If you're considering selling a bike, now is the time to do it.

That would make sense, the carbon sticker is on the forks, and everything I could find said steel frame. So that was throwing me off, making me think the bike was something different

aluminum frame and carbon fork is still pretty popular today, if you can't go full carbon or titanium frame/carbon fork.
