Biking Question

I have a Road Bike which I really enjoy riding. I am wanting to branch out a little and take up Gravel and maybe Cyclocross. I have tried MTB, and just didn't care for it.

Any suggestions, tips etc? I am looking at the Salsa Warbird and Trek line of bikes right now.

This is actually probably a pretty expensive bike.

I probably don't need something that nice.

Maybe Craigslist is the way to go. Always worried about getting murdered just to save a few bucks on a bike here though.

Keep posting shit for me so when I get up tomorrow I have stuff to look at.

Refine your searches. I’m in the Goodyear and Avondale area. I go too far in the other direction and murder.

I decided to get the Salsa Cutthroat Rival build. Bike shop called today and said it was ready. I will pick it up Friday. I spent more than I wanted, but may end up selling my roadie if I like gravel.

I need a new bike. I usually just buy a fairly cheap Schwinn or Mongoose from Walmart, and might go that route again, but figured I'd ask you some questions.

I basically wanna get the best quality bike I can get for not a lot of money. I honestly ride a few miles to the gym and back at this point, but would maybe consider a nicer bike that can last me many years and be used for more in the future.

Best bike brand under $200?

Best under $500?
Well shit. No idea what's up with my PMs. Check out Trek's FX series.

Nothing under $200 new is worth buying.

Yup, definitely couldn't send you a PM. Had nudes attached too.

I will check those out. I was looking at something under $200 if it was used. Maybe I'm too greedy as I've been looking for 6 months and haven't found anything.

Did you get the blue and red one? I was admiring that bike in the shop a couple of days ago. The trail map detail on the underside of the downtube is fantastic.

Search in the west valley. Most of those were central Phoenix and some ghetto areas. Many looked like stolen goods. Lol

I looked last night. I need a certain sized frame so I’m taking that into account too. Limits my options more but want the right fit bike.

yes. I loved the color scheme of the 2018 red/orange. I love the blue/red of the 2019 almost as much. Maybe I can come down and ride your roads with you.

The map is of the Great Divide race.

For my 45th birthday, I decided to gift myself with the Epic Rides Oz Trails Off Road yesterday. I did the 25 mile "fun ride" with about 100 other people. I was in the front pack of 4 for around 10 miles. Little did we know, but the course was mismarked, which wasn't caught until the frontrunners (us) already passed through. The leaders 25 mile "fun ride" turned into a 32 mile "not so fun ride." Since I had been gunning pretty hard from the first to try to stay toward front with a 25 mile ride in my mind, the additional 7 completely wrecked me mentally and physically. Additionally, our wrong turn involved climbing/descending the two biggest climbs on the trail system which would have been avoided if we'd been on course.

I blew up, bonked and was in big trouble until hitting the aid station with 10 miles left. Refueled on some electrolytes and finished fairly strong.

I was also on my steel hardtail instead of my XC full suspension (mechanical issues with it toward the end of the week), which I think made a difference. Anyway, I finished. I'm chafed like crazy, and it was pretty fun.

I think I was reading about this. Is this a two day event with all the beer you want at the end?

It's actually 3 day. Yesterday was 25 mile fun ride. Today is the amateur 35 and 50 mile races. Tomorrow will be the pro 50 with a $10,000 purse. There is beer. And music. And good times throughout.

It's kind of known as a great party with a bike race.
