The song was mentioned almost right away. The anagram wasn't, but I assume that's because it's understood.

Felina is also the paramore of the speaker in "El Paso" by Marty Robbins. The parallels to it are quite a bit stronger than the song "Feleena."

Quote:
Marty Robbins - El Paso Lyrics

Download RingtoneSend “El Paso” Ringtone to your cellDownload Ringtone

Out in the West Texas town of El Paso
I fell in love with a Mexican girl.
Night-time would find me in Rosa's cantina;
Music would play and Felina would whirl.

Blacker than night were the eyes of Felina,
Wicked and evil while casting a spell.
My love was deep for this Mexican maiden;
I was in love but in vain, I could tell.

One night a wild young cowboy came in,
Wild as the West Texas wind.
Dashing and daring,
A drink he was sharing
With wicked Felina,
The girl that I loved.

So in anger I

Challenged his right for the love of this maiden.
Down went his hand for the gun that he wore.
My challenge was answered in less than a heart-beat;
The handsome young stranger lay dead on the floor.

Just for a moment I stood there in silence,
Shocked by the FOUL EVIL deed I had done.
Many thoughts raced through my mind as I stood there;
I had but one chance and that was to run.

Out through the back door of Rosa's I ran,
Out where the horses were tied.
I caught a good one.
It looked like it could run.
Up on its back
And away I did ride,

Just as fast as I

Could from the West Texas town of El Paso
Out to the bad-lands of New Mexico.

Back in El Paso my life would be worthless.
Everything's gone in life; nothing is left.
It's been so long since I've seen the young maiden
My love is stronger than my fear of death.

I saddled up and away I did go,
Riding alone in the dark.
Maybe tomorrow
A bullet may find me.
Tonight nothing's worse than this
Pain in my heart.

And at last here I

Am on the hill overlooking El Paso;
I can see Rosa's cantina below.
My love is strong and it pushes me onward.
Down off the hill to Felina I go.

Off to my right I see five mounted cowboys;
Off to my left ride a dozen or more.
Shouting and shooting I can't let them catch me.
I have to make it to Rosa's back door.

Something is dreadfully wrong for I feel
A deep burning pain in my side.
Though I am trying
To stay in the saddle,
I'm getting weary,
Unable to ride.

But my love for

Felina is strong and I rise where I've fallen,
Though I am weary I can't stop to rest.
I see the white puff of smoke from the rifle
I feel the bullet go deep in my chest.

From out of nowhere Felina has found me,
Kissing my cheek as she kneels by my side.
Cradled by two loving arms that I'll die for,
One little kiss and Felina, good-bye.

I enjoyed it, of course. I do think it was overly redemptive. Walt becoming self-aware that his actions throughout the series were ego-driven was too...neat. I think the show ultimately says what it has to say about entitlement and privilege less strongly because of it.

Probably one of my least favorite episodes of the entire series. Pacing felt rushed to me even at 75 minutes. But they went for the "try to please everybody" style ending, and they actually pulled it off.

IMO, it achieved catharsis perfectly, but it wasn't a "challenging" ending. Like with much of the show in the last season, it left me with the feeling, "Of course, that's how that went down. It's so obviously perfect... why didn't I see it coming, though?"

I still loved it, though.

If you are going to have a character complete an arc, the series finale seems a good spot to do so, especially given his reticence to cop to any other reason besides "family" as late as the end of "Ozymandias". Also, this wasn't a Dickensian change of heart, he had months of loneliness, despair, and isolated fragments of news to ruminate over as he considered the breadth of his actions, his losses, further declining health, and the ruins of his empire.

The killing of the AB involved a complex device but a straightforward execution, so the majority of the episode was the tying of loose ends. The goodbyes needn't be multiple scenes long.

Personally, I think all finales create a feeling of rushing because the viewer knows the exact moment the clock runs out.

I would like to add one more thing: I'm not accusing you of this, but if we require every ending to be "challenging" then the act of creating a challenging ending becomes banal and pointless. Not every story needs a multivariate conclusion. Some stories simply stop when the protagonist achieves his/her goal, dies, or a combination thereof.

Agree. Was my mind blown in a "OMGWTFBBQ, I NEVER SAW THAT COMING" way? No.

Did I feel the cleansing of catharsis? **** yea.

The most emotional moment for me was a father saying goodbye to his sleeping daughter.

That just about crushed me.

I need to rewatch the entire series, but I just don't know that Walt's murder of Lydia is justified. She's clearly a sociopathic bitch who deserves to die, but I'm not sure that she's done enough to Walt in particular to justify him singling her out for the ricin treatment. Not complaining, but it struck me as a bit of a false note and pandering to the crowd.

Walt knows that she's a vile twat that wants to kill everyone. He knows that she will want to take out Skyler to save her own ass.
