***Ask Lonewolf Ed Anything Thread***

Lonewolf Ed was given some bad news recently. While he is going to be busy kicking some butt, I thought this would be a good chance for us to get to know more about our friend.

We are mostly an anonymous group of strangers, for the most part, but sometimes its nice to humanize this place and get some value out of these relationships.

So ask away! Let's get to know his views on life, his funny stories, his firsts, his favorites... there are no rules, except for the ones he makes.

Here's to Ed!

Let me start by saying that I'm a strong believer that you are a strong dude that will live much longer than predicted. My question: If you could start from 25, what would you do differently? From your beautiful post in the other thread, it sounds like you don't have a ton of regrets. Please PM me if you want to talk or have a beer sometime. I'm right down the road from you.

At 25... never go back to the titty bar or buy another Powerball ticket, since the most I ever won on that thing was 5 bucks! And knowing what was coming, insist on a colonoscopy at 40 and every year after until that damned polyp crept in like a ninja and got me to where I am today. I know they'd turn me away and say to come back when I was 50, but I'd lie and say I was having pains if I had to in order to get it done.

It was torturously LONG!! I thought that my first appt. at 8:45 am was to set up for the chemo. It was, but the chemo was a long way off. I talked to a nurse and psychology intern, a nutritionist whose sheet of foods I should eat had all of my staples anyway, so I made her job easy. She said that she wanted me to increase my protein intake about 30%, though, and I said, GREAT! We had time for lunch and wandering around. The chemo appt. was at 2 pm. I was taken to the room, prepped with pills and water, and waited. And waited. Some chemo started, no allergic reactions, all good. Wait some more. Wait some more. Get up to take horrendous 5 minute piss with left hand on the wall for support. Go back in room. Wait. Oh, good more baggies. These will take 2 hours. Ugh. It is already past 4 pm. After all that, the pump came that I carry around on a waist pack until Saturday. We left at 7:40 pm.

Let me fire up YouTube and let you know!

I will give the edge to Cracked Rearview due to the song, Only Wanna Be With You. Great song.

Here is another song that has very deep meaning to me, and moreso now with my condition.

I have my 2nd colonoscopy scheduled for the 2nd (I'm 48). Colon cancer runs in the family. Not sure if it is genetic or the fact that were a bunch of farmers riding around in in fertilizers, pesticides and herbacides all day every day. I hope it is the latter.

So what made you see the doctor in the first place?

I had sharp pains along my lower intestine and started to shart blood and mucus. At first I thought maybe some funky Chinese food got to me and I had put on 10 lbs. so I tried a colon cleanse. After a few weeks of that, the blood sharts would come off and on, so I started thinking I had to see a doc. A general blood test didn't point to what was wrong, just stuff like my prostate was slightly enlarged, had some internal 'roids, cholesterol was borderline high as well as blood sugar. I drastically dropped my carb intake and weight rolled off. I am now down from 214lbs. on New Years Eve to about 185 lbs. Anyhow, diet didn't fix it so the next stop was the colon doc. She did it on July 25th, since she went on vacation on me and I was supposed to have it on June 13th.

A mass was found and it was cancer, then a scan showed a problem with my liver, and just this past Monday, the atomic bomb was dropped that I have stage IV uncurable liver cancer, and 10 weeks to live without treatment, and with chemo, the best case is another 3 years.

I was asked a while back about my most embarassing moment. I listed the second. The most had to have been when I was 17. It was summer and my parents had packed up to head to the summer place in Montana for 7 weeks. As they drove off, I stripped nekkid and ran down to the barn from the house to celebrate my 7 weeks of freedom, and little else says freedom quite like the summer sun on parts that seldom see direct daylight. About mid-field, I heard a honk and there was the UPS truck and the driver got out and yelled that he needed a signature on the package. I dove face first in the grass and yelled, "GO AWAY!" He eventually did.

I know what I went through with a false positive scare that lasted 6 months couple years back. Prayers and best wishes to ya Ed.

The nearest actual town was Big Timber, about 30 miles away. It was on the Boulder River 4 miles from the Natural Bridge and Falls Park.
