According to the report, the league sources say the NFL determined 11 of the 12 footballs used by the Patriots were under-inflated by two pounds per square inch each. Per NFL rules, footballs are required to be inflated between 12.5 and 13.5 PSI and weigh between 14 and 15 ounces.

I agree that its a matter of integrity, its just doesnt seem like a huge issue of integrity... a slightly underinflated ball seems about as bad to me as pass interference quite honestly.

From what I've been reading, ball tampering is common as dirt... some like it more full, some like it under, some guys soak the balls or scuff them up or use them in practice the week before the game etc.

I just think that because its the Pats its become a bigger issue than it really is... combine a lot of people hating their success, with a large dose of spygate and then throw in the media hype that always surrounds that team and you have a recipe for something being blown out of proportion.

Every team is allowed to mess with the ball to get it to their liking BEFORE the refs inspect and approve them.

No one is allowed to alter the ball AFTER their approval, which is what the Pats did.

People are acting like national security was violated lol, this lands squarely in my "Big ****ing Deal" basket... flame away.

Because they cheated, got caught and most of all, are playing this "huh?" game. I think a couple things are fueling the fire. The history of the Pats cheating and the fact that they got caught again and are handling it as poorly as you could.

At this point I'd be OK with Clark having three or four replicas made and put into the trophy case in Arrowhead. Make it 5% larger, turn the laces a bit (perhaps laces-in), and use a @ instead of an a in "Lombardi" (Lomb@rdi), and tell the NFL what the hell they're talking about, "it not at all like the ones the Pats were given!"

The league is becoming more of a joke every year but this is still nothing compared to Denver needing Vince McMahon interference to get by KC in the 97 Survivor Series....err playoffs.

Judging by Pro Football Selection Committee members published pieces, Spygate might cost him a bronze bust in Canton, Ohio.

Odd how something that cost so little in terms of a fine could keep you out of the HOF.

Not to defend Bill, but with as light and unimpactful as his transgressions have resulted in, I'm not sure I understand how another group of NFL insiders could possibly come to such a different conclusion.

What would this be worth for the Chiefs:

Quarterback 10% more accurate
WR catch the ball 10% more consistently
Players fumble the ball 10% less often


What if gaining better grip by deflating the ball gives that 10%?


I don't know the exact benefits but i don't think you can just dismiss it as no big deal.
