"I Was An NFL Player Until I Was Fired By Two Cowards and a Bigot"

The Vikings organization and the NFL could be sued if any of this is true from the special teams coordinator.

I can't imagine the depths of lawsuits that would accrue if any leader in my organization said some of the things that the special teams coordinator said.

Not to turn this into a Duck Dynasty/religion conversation but you can have your opinion, you just can't say those vile things ("nuke it until it glows") while representing your organization.

Priefer didn't make a joke. He spoke from the heart and espoused his homophobia by essentially saying we should blow them all up. The pathetic part is, as an NFL coach, Kluwe and others knew that they couldn't respond, or at the very least call him a piece of shit.

Admittedly, I make racist jokes. I make jokes about popular events in the media that some may deem crude and offensive. I do these because that is the type of humor that I have. Kluwe made a crude and offensive joke. Priefer stood on a platform and classified homosexuals as inferior sickos. I'm assuming people laughed when Kluwe pulled his shtick. Not a mouse was heard after Priefer made his remarks.
Alleged? It was Jerry ****ing Sandusky being referenced.

Regardless, his intent wasn't even kinda similar to Priefer's. It's an irresponsible comparison and a nice red herring on the Vikings end.

I'm fine with letting both Priefer and Kluwe state their opinions. But more to the point, in a culture of open discourse, I don't see how you differentiate 'I oppose gay people' and "I find child rape humorous,' in a way that creates a bright line.

The difference is was one was most certainly a joke (in poor taste, no doubt, but a joke nonetheless) while the other was said with utmost sincerity.

If Priefer had said "I oppose gay people", I don't think most people would give two shits. There's a pretty big difference between "I disagree with that lifestyle" and "let's gather them up and exterminate them". The guy couldn't have thought of something more offensive if he was trying.

The same thing happened with that inbred from Duck Dynasty. Instead of quoting the Bible and leaving it at that like most people made it sound like, he went on about how a woman's vagina is desirable to him, so therefore a man's anus is unnatural and should be condemned. It seems like all you have to do in America to look like a social martyr is talk about how gay people make you feel uncomfortable.

That's a meaningless difference in this sort of case.

What intent? To express a stronger opinion than someone than a less strong opinion?

WTF, outside of immediate intentional specific incitement to physical violence, does 'intent' have to do with anything?

What some of you are saying right now is there's no difference between making a joke about the Holocaust and praising the Holocaust as a good thing.

There most certainly is a difference.

Like I said, as an NFL coach, he is the boss. When you are spouting off blatant homophobia during a team meeting like you're Fred Phelps during a Sunday morning sermon, you better believe that there will be repercussions once the word gets out. And to make matters worse, he lied about it when the article was released by saying he "vehemently denies these allegations". So much for that lie, amirite?

Exactly! If I start a thread on ChiefsPlanet denying the Holocaust solely to rustle people's jimbobs, it isn't the same as somebody who genuinely thinks the Holocaust didn't happen and actually thinks that it's a giant conspiracy started by the Jews to control Israel. Does saying it for trolling/joking purposes make me a piece of shit? Yeah, probably. I accepted that notion in elementary school. I'm just less shitty in the process.

The Holocaust is over. Humor is tragedy plus time.

Maybe 'joking' that you hope Hamas finishes what Hitler started, might come a little closer to an apt analogy.
