The biggest thing with Juicers is you have to buy a ton of fruit/veggies to get a half assed glass of juice. It works OK in the short term but that can add up.

Yeah, the Ninja leaves chunks of spinach/kale in it. Overall the smoothies are still tasty, but not the smoothest of smoothies.

My go-to might be too much - 1/4 to 1/2 cup of the following: strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and blackberries, a banana, small handful of baby spinach, scoop of peanut butter, and some protein powder. Yummy, and definitely fills me up. But is that too much? |

I use the pineapple because citrus is especially effective at cutting the flavor of the greens, and I go for the spinach because it's pretty mild to begin with. EDIT: And how does the Ninja do with the blackberries? Do you still have seeds? |

And yeah, the blackberry seeds are present, but not a deal killer. However, the Ninja just refuses to chop flax/chia seeds. |

I recently started juicing because my roommate does it all the time. I'm actually really surprised by how much better I sleep and how I weirdly don't get road rage like I used to. That's a totally unforeseen result.

Well I'm on day 2 of it, and so far so good. I added to much red bell pepper to one, but that's just a lesson learned.
So who knows, maybe someday I'll get Vitamix too. It's the price of two Chiefs games, and I'm thinking the juicing and/or smoothie might do more for my health. But I've been lifting for 35 years and if there's one thing you have to get used to with anything to do with health and your body - there's going to be some learning and pain associated with it...

not sure if this has been mentioned, but the infomercial the OP probably saw was the NutriBullet. like the MagicBullet, it pulverizes and, according to the infomercial, emulsifies everything put in it. now i don't know what emulsification is but that was scientific enough for me to get it for the holidays.
considered a "nutrition extractor" rather than a juicer or blender, this thing is quick, compact and easy to clean. really amazing. i'd get the larger NutriBullet 900, which might run you a little more than a $100 at Kohls with one of their regular 30 percent coupons. |

The cleaning part, to me, will remain a huge consideration.

FWIW, the Vitamix is quite easy to clean. The blender mechanism is all one piece, so you're not dealing with gaskets or separate pieces to take apart and put back together. If you'll clean it immediately after using it, you fill it halfway with water, put a little squirt of liquid dish shop in it, blend it on medium high for 30 seconds, and rinse. It's very simple.

Cut stuff up, put it in, blend. Stops blending, turn off, slowly ramp back up. Constantly. Carrots give it hell.

Do you have the correct container? Vitamix has one for dry and one for wet. If you are blending fruits and vegetables in the dry you can have 'jam ups'.
