and experience the pain of a loved one for 5 minutes ... would you?

let's say you have a family member or something that has a chronic pain situation ... like chemo/cancer,nerve injury or a back problem etc.

Something where they have to deal with pain on a daily basis.

Would you want to share their pain for a few minutes to understand what their life is like?

I would share it so that I could understand better. However, I'd pay money to be able to transfer any pain my children feel to myself.

I don't feel like there's an appropriate option for me.

If we're talking about taking the pain from them so they can have some relief, count me in. If we're talking about assuming their pain in some effort to comprehend their struggle - nah. Not interested.

i believe that puts you in the "no, what good would it do for me to be in pain for even a second"

pretty much everyone would "take" the pain from someone they loved.

this is about empathy ... some have/understand it, some don't
