The MIA Heat Show Thread

LA will be dethroned. The LAC Lake Show will be dead. So it's time to create a thread to follow the new dynasty.

Going on tour starting this October.

All Im saying is if you guys are expecting them to automatically be crowned the best team in the NBA right now, before effectively filling out that top heavy roster and having the coach get them to play as a unselfish and humble team...you are in for a rude awakening.

The Heat have the nucleolus of a GREAT team in place, nobody is disputing that at all, we are just saying that it isnt gonna all of a sudden happen overnight for them.

Pardon my use of the term, but its gonna be "a process"

I don't know about 40. I'd park my ass in a zone and make Wade and Bron shoot out of it.

Arison said the team's phones have been ringing off the hook with veterans seeking to sign on, even though it would mean taking the veteran's minimum of roughly $1 million for 2010-11.

The Lakers have improved their roster EVERY YEAR including after their many recent championships, if you think Mitch is sitting on his hands watching this happen you are mistaken my friend.

I can guarantee you that if the Lakers lose Fisher, we will upgrade the spot in one way or another. They are the absolute best in the league at thinking outside the box to improve the roster.

Already, he has seven rings, though the sackful he nudged across the table in recruiting LeBron was maybe triple that. This offers a glimpse as to who Riley is. He has had duplicates of each ring made in yellow gold, sterling silver and platinum, to match his attire.

To Riley, you see, it's important that rings match belt buckles. Greatness, he feels, is defined in ways large and small. He once sent a note congratulating his former NBC partner, Bob Costas, for his great Olympic work. He also added: "But the ties, Bob, the ties!"

The rings, subtly placed on the table, were a shimmering symbol of what the Heat offered LeBron. Spoelstra saw the bag and heard it clang on the table, "like jingle bells,'' he said.

"It's like a weapon,'' Riley said.

Every great player he's recruited, Riley said, talks of winning championships. But Riley was the only architect in this free-agent fight with this big bag of tricks to fire off.

Did these rings help when Riley looked at these players with his empty roster and said, "Trust me?" They couldn't hurt.

James took the bag, looked inside and his eyes went wide.

"We had a good time talking about them,'' is all Riley said.

Pat Riley is such a badass.

The Heat has talked to James Jones, who was bought out June 30, about re-signing for the minimum salary and there's interest on both sides. An NBA official mentioned Juwan Howard and Joe Smith among other veterans who would love to join the Heat at the minimum. Agents for Mike James, Von Wafer, Matt Barnes and others also have been in touch with the Heat, but Miami is being very selective.

Derek Fisher met with Pat Riley on Saturday and is being encouraged by the Heat's stars to sign. But he could get more re-signing with the Lakers.

Although Zydrunas Ilgauskas and Raja Bell have been mentioned, Miami has contacted neither, agent Herb Rudoy said.

The Heat raised the minimum-salary scenario with Brad Miller and Roger Mason; their agent, Mark Bartelstein, said Saturday, ``They've got much better offers. It's a question of whether they want to consider the Heat or not.''

If a player wants to be paid less to win, dont you think he would go to the team that WINS?

You know, like lots and lots of real championships type of winning.
