You want another mind-bending stat... if they win 3 of these next 5 against the White Sox and Twins, the Royals will finish July with a winning record.
That means they'd have winning records in 3 of the 4 months this season, and still be under .500. |

They didn't win their 48th game last year until August 9th. Progress.

The royals need to play .600 baseball and they need the indians and tigers both to play .500 ball. We should sell.

To be honest, Lough isn't the problem. It's the revolving door at 2nd base, and a argument can be made for 3rd base or the Wade "Crash" Davis experiment as well.

I just looked over the box score and the Royals only had 2 swinging strikes the entire game. That's kind of hard to believe.

Good series KC. I bet Guthrie was pleased to put it to us. Your outfield is unbelievable and that damn shortstop you guys have is very frustrating to opposing team's fans. Hope to see you move up and contend.

It's no coincidence Chris Davis has gone homer-less ever since the PED scandal story started swirling again a couple weeks back and Braun/GayRod got nailed. Davis has probably started cycling out and is being left with what he is: a 25-30 HR guy in reality.

I agree that 2B is a bigger hold right now than RF. You can live with David Lough in RF (though he needs to either draw more walks or hit for more XB power to stick there longer-term).
I've thought all season that the upgrades available there are "bigger" than the upgrades available in RF. Not sure what's available at this point, though. It sounds like Utley is going to remain in Philadelphia, and they're talking about an extension at this point. Kendrick, I'm still not crazy about and the price is still likely to be high for what he actually is. Other than that, not sure there's a better option than simply playing Johnny Giavotella everyday and hoping that works. But good luck seeing that, Dayton.

You think the A's might move Jemile Weeks for a middling price? If so, would you be interested? I've also thought about Rickie, but I doubt the Royals want to commit $11 M to 2B. |
