The CityPass can be a good deal if you plan your schedule and make sure you will recoup the costs.

Also, be aware that each museum has a free day every week. If you are tight on funds, you can brave it, but it's best to avoid usually.

Most of the museums are going to be free the Monday my wife and I are there (a week from today). We were planning on going in the morning, then fly out that afternoon. I assumed that since it's a Monday and the cold as hell weather, they wouldn't be all that busy. Am I wrong?

It will probably help school is in session and it's cold. We did free day at MOSI one year in June and it was a nightmare. Plan accordingly though, each of the museums will take you a couple of hours minimum just to breeze through. If I had to choose one thing at MOSI it would be the U-boat tour.

Field museum was a bit underwhelming to me, but the Art Museums are great.

We are flying in through Ohara and out through Midway.

Christ I ****ing hate that airport. You'd almost think you're in a different country. I fly into Midway everytime, and it's closer to downtown.

wasn't a choice to fly out of two different airports. If I decided to change to one airport of midway it would have cost me $200-$300 total.

For your return trip, you're better off not taking the L to Midway if you've got a lot of luggage. It's a very long walk from the train terminus to the airport (very poorly designed, but somebody probably got paid a million dollars to do it that way). I'd recommend taking a cab.

Didn't read the whole thread, but if you are flying into Midway airport, check out the Battle of Midway exhibit in concourse A. Takes 5 min, and there's a fully-restored Dauntless hanging from the ceiling.

Man that train system looks good. Easy to get around without paying a fortune in cab fare or messing with parking a rental. Anyone ride the trains?

yes. the downside is they often get delayed or stopped due to issues. We almost missed a flight out of O'Hare because the Metra got stopped for 45 minutes due to an incident.

Yes, cabs or shuttles are a must to and from the airport.
