Attention All Lawrence/KC Area Friends!


As many of you know, I co-founded an organization called Open World two years ago as a senior in high school. We sent two laptops and internet access to a rural school in Nepal and now are attempting to bring the same children school buildings with running water and electricity. If any of you Chiefsplaneteers could swing by Fuzzy's Tacos this Thursday, (or spread the word to all of their Lawrence/KC area friends) 100% of the profits will go toward building a school with running water to children in Nepal. We're kind of working on that, actually. Our long term goal is to partner Lower-Income schools in the United States with schools across the world. It's our hope that these types of partnerships can function as entrepreneurship courses for the schools in the United States. Instead of learning "business" ideas from the "mastering" of Microsoft Office, students will be tasked with created successful grassroots business models while coordinating with other students from around the globe.

Much to our surprise, the moment I stepped onto KU's campus I was offered a job to be the video-editor of KU's Special Education Department (from my portfolio with Open World alone), while my partner now creates websites for companies all around the country.

We're currently beta-testing this idea after partnering a rural sixth grade classroom with the SAV School and will be presenting on the results over the summer. The standard classroom model is currently to test students on antiquated applications and strategies, our ambition is to challenge American students to actually create a successful business model and learn strategies that could benefit them for a lifetime.
