Harrison of NFL.com ranks his top 10 QB's of '15 and Alex....
You can read the full list and see video here
Here's a small excerpt Competition was fierce at the 10-spot, coming down to Cam Newton, Matt Ryan, Eli Manning, Joe Flacco and Matthew Stafford. If we were talking overall careers, Manning would be the choice. Flacco presents an interesting argument, because he tends to light it up in nationally televised games. At the same time, there's no question he's been inconsistent since winning Super Bowl XLVII. Stafford's inaccuracy in key spots has driven Lions fans crazy. Newton's calling card has never included on-the-mark throws, but his overall game can be a nightmare for defenses. Ryan, meanwhile, has been the most consistent, and was ultimately the toughest to leave off. So why Smith? |

I don't care about numbers, unless we are talking wins...and Alex Smith helped this franchise turn things around and become a winner.
He's not perfect, but he is an unquestioned winner. |

"He just wins!!" Said the fans as their team watched the playoffs on their couches at home with them.

I'd credit almost the entire turnaround in w/l record to the other side of the ball. Although I suppose playing not to lose on offense has played its part.

He extends drives and keeps the defense on the sideline resting and making adjustments. That let Sutton "dial it up" and kept guys fresh late in games. I expect that to be even more prevalent as the weapons on offense improve, Alex masters the playbook and Andy Reid learns how best to utilize the talent we have. |

The hurdle for "pretty good" is astoundingly low around these parts.

I'm still waiting for Alex Smith to take that "best pre-snap QB in the entire NFL" ability and actually ****ing use it in a goddamn game for ****ing once.
You know, like call an audible. Or yell out the protection. Or slap his RB on the ass to give him some encouragement in blocking. ANYTHING. I'd like to see anything that demonstrates he understands what's going to happen on defense and make an adjustment to produce a better play than what he thought. I've never once seen him do any of that shit. I'm waiting. If he's "the best pre-snap QB in the NFL" like a bunch of Niner fans said he was, I should have seen one of those things happen on the field by now. |

Drew Brees sports the same record in that time span, IIRC.
Alex is probably still top 5 of all QBs in record the last few years, I think. Are we still to judge all QBs by this team statistic? or just when it is convenient for you?
