Also, it's pretty funny how most people are saying no because of Rivers' attitude instead of actual talent or really anything quantifiable.
I don't care if Smiff has the attitude of ****in' Mother Teresa, I would much rather have the douchebag who actually plays a role in winning.

This is pretty easy and the answer is yes.
Do the negatives associated with Rivers go back to his rapidly deteriorating team? Yes. Do the positives associated with Smith go back to his ascending team? Yes. |

I'd want his knee checked out and a truth potion so he could tell me if he was injured last year and hiding it, or if he has just started going downhill.
But I'd probably take Rivers if he checks out physically. Poor bastard has been piss-pounded the past several years in SD.

If I wanted a shot at a title before Herm's picks hit the slide, yes.

As someone alluded to earlier, I also think its his knee. It would account for the diminishing velocity on his throws, but one would have to go back and compare pre acl tear to post and then compare both with recent(past 2 years) to get a good idea.

No, dude hasn't shown he's ascending, and doesn't face turmoil well- constantly bickering with teammates and opposing players & is just as much a source of fault as the rest of his team, but inspires no leadership and decides instead to pout. Alex may not be "the" guy, but I'll pass on River's lack of production that comes with his piss poor attitude.

You can add Roethlisberger to the bad o-line list too. They were awful the year they beat the cards in the superbowl, and were bad for years after.

In 2011, David Diehl by himself gave up nine sacks, eight hits, and 48 hurries, while the rest of the line was truly terrible, and Eli still won the Super Bowl.
