Knowing how Herm operates, im sure hes thinking we wont be able to outscore them in a shooting match.
Hes going to want to slow the game down and hopefully try and control the clock fo 40 minutes or so. That means a TON of LJ and Bennett. Not a bad strategy.

Keep Manning/Harrison/Wayne off the field and they can't beat you.

You don't get to turn the ball over 3 times in a playoff game and win.

I hope we open the game airing it out a bit to soften them up. Regardless, we need to stay with the ground game no matter what the score and stay focused on running the ball. It give us the best chance to win.

Should be a good game if KC can keep their passing game respectable. The Colts' passing game in the dome... kinda scary and will be a force. The key for KC... don't let Manning and Company go ape shit crazy early, removing LJ from the plan of attack. Know what I mean?
If KC can pound it early and often with the ground game, then that's the best thing that could happen for you guys. Get down early and look out. KC is 16th in total defense with Indy being 21st. Indy has the #2 pass defense with KC at 18. But, Indy has the 32nd run defense with KC at 18. There is about a 3 point difference in scoring allowed, advantage KC. Should be interesting and in the dome... KC will have their work cut out for them without a doubt. I don't think Indy is as badass as they have been in year's past, but they're still good. It's the playoffs though... home field isn't what it used to be, so it's anyone's game.

This CAN'T be a shootout. If it is, we'll lose. We have to control the clock, and PRAY that our defense holds them a little bit at least.

Maybe the KC defense can wear bad wigs and black mustaches and maybe disrupt Peyton Manning's concentration... maybe.

We need to mix it up a bit too and not just strict run. Get gonzo the ball as well. Cinci stayed away from their main game and emphasized run and lost. Of course running is more this teams game now, so we'll see.

Sorry but I've seen the Indy defense try to stop players like Ron Dayne by stacking the line and he still shredded them. I don't doubt that we go out and try to establish the run and see Indy have some success selling out against it, but eventually he will start to break off the 5-10 yard gains. I also think you're going to see Colts defensive players out of position even more frequently than others we've faces and LJ will have some wide open lanes to run through.
Like I said in another thread, I won't be surprised at all if LJ gets 200 yards. It all depends on if we can control Indy's offense in the first half or not. Also agree with the earlier posting that Tony will have a monster day. If Trent gets him the ball. |
