Cards vs. Royals weekend series

Question for the Royals fans. You want to keep the discussion in your daily game threads or do you just want to keep us Cardinal fans out of "your" threads?

or start a shared thread?

This is looking like the best time in our history that both of our teams have been playing at this high of a level when we played each other.

We went to the NCLS last year and you went to the WS but we were playing like shit when we played. This year we have the best record in baseball and you guys are just one game behind that record, correct?

Bring it on. May the best team win.

If al does not start them, I'll do it like I did last year, do the best I can with his formula.

I haven't done any this year yet, but the Cards is a good time to start it.

The Royals will always be my first team, no matter what circumstances are. That being said, I am also a Cubs fan as well because when I was a kid, the Royals weren't much on TV back then, or if they were, I didn't/couldn't find any on TV, so it was pretty much on the radio a lot back then.

The Cubs were my 2nd favorite because they played a lot of day games in Chicago (this was in 1988 before they installed the lights in Wrigley that same year in August), so I was able to see some games in the 6th inning or later after I got home from school. Plus they had some good players like Ryne Sandberg, Mark Grace, Andre Dawson to name a few. But it was pretty much Harry Caray that was signing take me out to the ball game is what got me involved, and that he was allegedly drunk on the air and misspelling players names, which was pretty funny.

It was either the Cubs or the Braves.... *shrug*

I can't understand this. I don't see any scenario that I could ever switch teams. Have a "2nd" favorite team.

I lived in KC for 15 years. I loved watching baseball at the K. Great place to watch baseball. But, become a fan? Thought never entered my mind.

I've lived within a mile or two of the Rays stadium for the last 5 years. But, become a fan? Thought never entered my mind.

For better or worse, I'll always be a fan of the same teams that I've been a fan of since before kindergarten.

Why? The City Museum, Zoo, Forest Park, Soulard, Central West End, and the Landing are all good shit. And Wash U and SLU are both great schools.

I can sorta understand it for other sports, especially the NFL, like if you grew up with one team, moved and now also like the local team, thats fine. Its not hard to follow two NFL teams.

But baseball is 162 freaking games, man. I don't have any sort of sports fan ethics problem with it unless someone is an evil, vile front-runner who always roots for good teams, but how does anyone have the time to have a 2nd favorite MLB team? I guess if you were retired and were a super hard-core fan you might be able to follow 2 or even 3 teams, but if you don't have that kind of time, then I sorta think those people are just hedging their bets and reserving the right to be happy if one of their 2 or 3 chosen MLB teams are good.

Not this Cardinal fan. I was a fan in the 70's. We lost 90 games a year. Lowest attendance was 14k-15K for a few years. But, the average attendance of baseball games was 15K-16K. So at our worst time we were average in attendance.

We havent been below a 20K average since 1980.
