Dexter McCluster heads to the CFL

Terrell Owens could be playing in Canada. For now, a former NFL player some 15 years younger than Owens is headed there.

The Toronto Argonauts announced on Monday that they have signed running back Dexter McCluster.

A second-round pick of the Chiefs in 2010, McCluster played both running back and receiver in the NFL. After four years in Kansas City, he spent two with the Titans and a portion of 2016 with the Chargers.

McCluster, a 29-year-old who did not play in 2017, generated 1,042 rushing yards and 1,993 receiving yards. He also racked up 1,554 kick-return yards and 1,388 punt-return yards, for a grand total of 5,977 all-purpose yards.

And CP would have taken Sergio Kindle, Terrance Cody, or Taylor Mays. Guaranteed.

DAT is pretty much the same thing as McCluster, but at least he can outrun most inside linebackers. There's a very marginal place for DAT in the NFL, but there's not a place for a guy who runs a 4.6 40 at 172 pounds.
You knew he was going to have it rough when DBowe was faster than him and twice his size.

I don't disagree with your post. He was a wasted pick, no doubt. All I'm saying is that if we had taken Gronkowski in the second and McCluster in the 5th, where he should have been picked, there would not have been near the outrage. Sure, we want every pick to workout, but we have higher expectations for our second round picks than from our 5th round picks. And, like you said, everyone except Pioli and Hailey knew immediately that McCluster would never meet those expectations. The outrage was with Pioli, but the hate was poured out on McCluster.

He made a few plays while he was here. Had a few good punt returns. It's not his fault he was drafted too high by a regime that was ****ing clueless. And it's not his fault the team was a pile of human excrement led by Hat Castle. Considering some players drafted high, even in the 1st round, contribute exactly jack and shit (like Jon Baldwin). Hell, Javier Arenas was taken 14 picks later and he wasn't worth a damn either.

Yeah the pick sucked ass, but we've had worse picks. Tyson Jackson as the #3 overall player taken in 2009. Turk McBride was a 2nd rounder in 2007. Junior Siavii and Kris Wilson were both 2nd rounders in 2004. Eddie Freeman a 2nd rounder in 2002. And on down the list. We've had worse stinkers than McCluster.

Eh, we don't need Gronk. We have Kelce and all of CP agrees that he's much better.

With an Elite QB, the talking heads will be fawning over Kelce as the undisputed #1 TE in the NFL.

The PMII Effect will do this.

Almost forgot a real 2nd round gem. William Bartee in 2000. Mike Cloud, 2nd round in 1999. Sylvester Morris another 1st round slug ala Jon Baldwin. Ryan Sims the 6th overall pick of 2002. Victor Riley pick 27 in 1998. Trezelle Jenkins pick 31 in 1995. Greg Hill pick 25 in 1994.

My god 1992-1995 were really aids drafts for us outside of Will Shields. And I guess Dale Carter was ok for a short period? But we got the almighty Matt Blundin in the 2nd round in 1992!!!! I know you could do this with most teams but it still stings looking at our horrid drafts over the years.

Dale Carter was a top-two cornerback in the league for several years. He was far better than okay.

You blame the person whose job it was to draft players. It's not that hard to figure out or understand.

It wasn't McCluster's decision to get drafted in the 2nd round. What was he supposed to do, reject the contract and demand 6th round money instead?

So let's blame Hunt? NO, we shouldn't! It wasn't his fault he was born as the son of Lamar and that the rest of his siblings simply didn't want the position of Chiefs Chairman after Lamar died!
If you want to cry and complain about the player not being good enough for their position on the field, that's fine and warranted. Complaining about a player because of where they were drafted should be directed to the GM because that's their job, not the players. This isn't a video game where you draft a player in the first round and the system assigns them a 94 overall player rating.

If you want to complain about who the GM of the team is, then complain about the guy that hired him.

We didn't have Kelce in 2010. We had traded away Tony G. I think your best tight was Moeaki, who couldn't stay healthy. Gronk in 2010 would have been awesome.
