*.* 2014 General Fitness Thread *.*

Welcome to 2014! Now get your ass in top physical condition!

No one else started it so here it is!

**From the 2013 Thread**

If you want to get back into lifting, or need a new lifting routine, START HERE:

http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wi...inner_Programs

If you have questions about the SS programs, look here:

http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ

Keep in mind that you're a novice lifter for a longer period of time than you think you are. Novice lifting can last anywhere from a few months to a year or two, depending on how hard you hit the weights and where you started.

Once you've reached the point where you don't make regular progress on the SS program, you are ready to move on to the intermediate stage, which can last you for a good number of years. Find it HERE:

http://madcow.hostzi.com/5x5_Program/Linear_5x5.htm

If you're a very advanced lifter (many, many years of CONSISTENT weight training), then there are lot of programs out there, and which one you pick is simply a matter of preference. If you're really that advanced, you should know what works for you and what doesn't by this point.

Yeah. After taxes, I pay $150 per month for four sessions per month with my trainer. So, I'm basically paying $160 per month to my gym.

You can't put a price tag on the transformation you've had over the last year, so it's worth it regardless how much it cost. That's the other way I justify our high expense: it keeps my wife motivated, and working out keeps her sane. You can't put a price tag on a woman's sanity.

Yeah, I tell everyone that it's worth it, as long as you put the work into it. I would not be where I'm at if I'd decided not to do the personal training. I've learned a ton, including how to really push myself. I only thought I was pushing myself before...lol.

And the gym has done wonders for my mood. I'm still a woman, so I'm still moody, but my mood swings aren't nearly as bad. I'm generally happier as a whole. And confidence....well, I'm not even going to get started. I could go on for forever about what I've learned, discovered, and accomplished in the last six months...lol.

The irony is that it looks like that, but my wife and I both spend the majority of our time in the basement, which looks like a freaking dungeon.
We looked at gyms like that also, but the cost was just so high, especially in relation to the time we would be able to put in. I would love to have a basketball court again to play at and I know my wife would like all the classes, especially the zumba, but for now the Planet Fitness works since it is very close and cheap.

Lifetime Fitness in Leawood was a crazy cool and huge place. All the bells and whistles. But between the cost and lack of time available to us to make proper use of it, we couldn't justify a place like that right now.

My gym is about $150/mo for a family membership. We also get the yoga, spinning, racquetball, etc. My bill is usually around $300 - $400 due to beers, protein shakes, food, and whatever nonsense my wife charges to the account. It's really not that bad considering we spend a huge chunk of our time there.

New PR on barbell squats. 155 for 10 reps (I did 12, but I don't think two of them should count, as I rolled forward on my feet on one and broke form slightly coming up on one).

I went to buy some shorts last night, seeing as I no longer have any that won't fall off...lol, and I discovered something. I've have some quads. Damn...lol.

*.* 2014 General Fitness Thread *.*

I recently decided to cut cereal out of my diet entirely. So no more Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Trix, Fruity Pebbles or any of that. It's basically just sugar in milk so I'd rather just not eat it..

After at least 12 years straight eating cereal first thing in the morning, I'm not having as much trouble kicking it as I had thought but on some days I feel a bit off. For more information, I've replaced the cereal with a piece of fruit, generally an apple or an orange. On most days I feel just fine, but on occasion I get the feeling like I want to throw up. I guess just an upset stomach type of feeling.

Any CP dietitians have any clue as to what might be happening to me?
