My list of players that have to put up or they're gone:

Shehee - say no more, he's already gone
Graham - snap exchange snafu will hurt
Gray - waste of space
Dishman - acts like he doesn't care
Hall - pick a hole and hit it on the return!
O Neal - LB - Needs a showing to keep a ST spot
Anders - another week like last one will assure his spot
Collins - he's got a spot, but he's been worthless
Warfield - He's looked awfull, but I would guess this team needs his speed
Steve Martin - invisible and ineffective
DarDar - will secure his spot if he is effective this week

Who else have I missed?<P>

Can't disagree with much you have listed, but Dishman isn't going anywhere, unless injured. Same with Warfield. I think you could add Stills to the list, as they might keep O'Neal. Why is Lamanzer Williams still on the roster? For that matter why is his brother? Salary cap on the latter, I am sure.

The fates of Gray and Dishman probably depends a lot on Bartee and Dennis. Neither seem ready to play from what I have heard. I hope Bartee will get Gray's spot, and Dennis will probably be put on the PS.

I also think the D-line is far from settled. Mark Word gets his last chance on Friday too IMO. Martin, Browning, Williams. These guys will all be kept, but who starts and who backs-up. And where? That also leaves Ransom and Parten in the mix. Some of these guys are going to hit the road.

I hope Darnell Alford will be kept. I would think he will be as we are low on tackles. In a couple of years, he might be the find of this draft.

The RB situation might still have a surprise left in it. I think Hall deserves a spot as a STer. I also hope we hold onto both Anders and Bennett. Bennett isn't great, but he is a team player who is invaluable as a back-up or in case of injuries, even if his cap number is kind of high.

Chi-Town:

If Shehee and Gray are still around after the next cut, then all I can figure is that they have pics of Carl or Gunther that neither wants seen in public.

If Dishman goes, who would take his place(besides me)? Or do we just throw in a rookie and let him be toast all season to get the experience?

I say let Collins(I was his biggest supporter last year),Martin, and O'Neal go-find someone in the later cuts that can fill those same holes.

If Hall shows anything at all...he may earn himself a spot...the way I figure it, he would be the 6th back if we keep that many...Shehee is gone no matter what...

I think DarDar made the team last week when he made that punt return...and then catching the TD...plus he's a maniac on coverage teams...he's in...

We have to cut 18 players after next game...some tough decisions will be made...

I talked about this on the other BB, but I am all for a youth movement this year. We need to finish cleaning house and let our young players get some experience. IMO, our best case is .500 this season, which does not make the playoffs. Who Cares?

Let's spend this year developing talent, positioning for a good draft pick and play for 2001 and beyond, instead of a series of one year maybe's.

I've been impressed with Hall's return ability. The guy can flat-out fly! Explosive speed cannot be taught... I'd keep him.

Dishman and Gray are going nowhere, ‘cause Bartee and Warfield are not ready yet.
Shehee is outta here.
Anders will not be cut, although he may be a backup.
Bennett also will not be cut. A switch hitter is too valuable to release.
Collins also will not be cut, although they might give up on White.
DarDar will probably make the team.
Martin will stay as DL depth.

If Warfield's not ready yet........will he ever be? CB will have to be the top priority for the draft/FA next year IMO.

Can I agree with you Phil? Seems there is not much clamoring this year to keep the all time division II runner. Watch out XFL. Cormac you are right, unless we end up with a top 5 pick, and even still if there is another Champ Bailey. Warfield had the opportunity, and I hope he pans out, but beginning to have my doubts.

Am I reading this wrong, or does Warfield looked confused on pass coverage. He just appears to be a step slow when making his decisions. This is a deadly flaw for a DB.

I think Hall will stay. He's fast as just about anyone out there. At the combine, he had the fastest time of all the running backs, and the second fastest time of all the players in attendance. I think he would be great as a returner, and a situational or third dwon back. I'd like to see him stay!

Unfortunately when I think of Warfield, I think of the TB game last season when he was toasted twice by Dilfer-Jacquez Green (who admittedly is really quick). I just think, that nomatter how difficult it is to play CB, he has to be at the top of his learning curve by now, if he is ever going to get there. He's very good for a 7th rounder, but I guess we were all hoping for more. Hopefully he'll make strides this season. We NEED him for next year!

Graham is history if Willis can play Center.
I agree that Gray's fate depends on Bartee or Dennis having a greaty game.
Dishman is safe.
Hall has already made the team (unless his sore back is much worse than we know).
They want to keep ONeal and will find an excuse to do so.
Either Anders or Bennett is gone, we can justify keeping one (as a back up FB), but we don't have room to keep both (and develop youth). This will be a tough one (my bet is that Anders is gone).
If Ted White can have a decent game, Collins will be gone, but both might go if anyone becomes avail after final cuts.
Warfield is safe. He is sufferinf a confidence problem right now that IS making him slow on the reads. His problem is not skill; it is smarts. His future will depend on the quality of coaching he recieves (IMO).
Dar Dar has made the team.
