The Broncos futility continues

I didn't see this posted yesterday.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/traini...ohn&id=4418733

Broncos in tough spot with Marshall

If you thought Josh McDaniels was in a tough spot with the Jay Cutler trade, don't look now.

The Brandon Marshall situation might be worse. The trust between Marshall and the Broncos has been broken on both sides. Marshall doesn't trust the trainers; he doesn't trust the organization. On the flip side, the Broncos don't trust him enough to offer him a contract extension. Trading him would set more precedents for players who might want to leave the Broncos.

What the Broncos need is a face-saving angel, a team willing to trade the equivalent of a No. 1 and No. 4 pick to resolve this situation. Watching the Broncos play the Seahawks on Saturday night, I think the Broncos can get by with three- and four-receiver sets that feature Eddie Royal, Jabar Gaffney, Brandon Stokley and Chad Jackson.

That group of receivers might not be tall, but it's solid enough for Kyle Orton, who is going to operate a quick passing offense out of three- and five-step drops. The problem facing the Broncos is that because their defense is suspect, they probably are going to play a lot of shootouts. Orton is good, but I don't see him winning three games in which the defense surrendered 30 or more points, as Cutler did last season.

Plus, starting in Week 4, the Broncos face an eight-game stretch in which it's going to be hard to win many games. From Oct. 4 to Nov. 26, they face Dallas, New England, San Diego, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Washington, San Diego and the Giants. They could lose all eight. Getting value for Marshall, who is in the final year of his contract, is the wise thing to do if McDaniels is going to build the Broncos back into a playoff team.

Marshall would be a great fit on the Ravens or the Jets. If neither team -- or another suitor -- offers a No. 1 and a No. 4, the Broncos will have to keep him, even though his attitude might cause his productivity to drop.

Just for the record though (not that you care)but I dont like Orton, and dont think he will last as your starter.Even though I thought Cutler was a lil too cocky I still liked the guy,so thats pretty much where my petty BS comes from...

While DB's may have dropped 4 INT's from Cutler, they have CAUGHT 4 thrown by Orton and dropped several more. His 2 games have been Abortons.

Before I say this, let me make it perfectly clear that I am thoroughly enjoying the Donkeys epic failure of an offseason and be the 1st, or 36412385701st Chiefs fan to say, "This was a long time coming for the Donks.".

With that said, if I were a neutral party, I would want to see Denver bench the ever loving shit out of Marshall for the season and trade his ass away next offseason. If you let Marshall go just like you did Cutler for his behavior, you're setting a dangerous precedence and saying its alright for anyone on that Denver team to misbehave in order to get what they want. Bench Marshall for the season and you regain the locker room and make it perfectly clear that nobody is above the team. He's a fantastic talent and his benching will sever any explosiveness the Broncos might have this season and in the future, but it's all about drawing a line in the sand. Trade Marshall just like you did Cutler and a rookie head coach loses the locker room (if he hasn't lost it already). Plus, if that would happen coupled with the Niners' situation with Crabtree, it would go a long way in keeping these "me-first" athletes all over the NFL from acting like grade-A bitches. In closing, **** Denver.

That trade also let us get Knowshon Moreno, who has been compared to LaDanian Tomlinson by a bunch of people, and was the best RB in the entire draft. We also got Robert Ayers, who Mike Mayock said would be the best defensive player taken in the draft. And we got Alphonso Smith, the best cover corner in the draft, who would have been a top 10 pick if he was 2 inches taller.

I love the trade. We are better team because of that trade.
Orton was the QB of a team that had the 16th scoring defense. He didn't have to 'win' games. He had to manage games. He still 'managed' to have a QB rating under 80, and under 3000 yards.

Yeah, Cutler had more interceptions. It is amazing what happens when the defense sucks eggs and you have to try to win a game.

Moreno is a good back. No dispute there. He is NOT LT. LT isn't 205lbs. LT is 220lbs. There is a huge difference there.

Moreno isn't as fast, he isn't as big, and he doesn't catch the ball as well. LT ran a 4.46. Moreno ran a 4.61.

As a UGA observer, Moreno is a good back and has good vision. But, he isn't the home run threat that LT is. He isn't as big as LT is. You took a small slow back in the first round.

You traded what is likely to be a top five pick for an undersized corner in the second round.

You traded away a franchise QB that was 26 years old, that would have been a starter for 2/3's of the league.

You got a guy that would have been a backup on nearly every other team in the league in Orton. I am really struggling to think of any other team besides Denver and San Fran that might actually start Orton.

And, YOU think you had a 'great' offseason.

Hey, this year should be fun. I hope you stick around.

Okay.... a couple of things here.

#1) For this to be a discussion, it would seem that they would have had to have at least a chance to catch the ball. They had no such chance.

#2) The defender DID drop an INT the play before the TD.

#3) There is NO offense that Kyle Orton is perfect for.

Welcome to Homerville. Anybody who thinks Kyle Orton is better for anything opposed to Jay Cutler needs to seriously evaluate their intake of lead paint chips.

The Bears scored more points than the Broncos did and Devin Hester did not have a single kickoff or punt return TD. Orton was stuck in a horrible offense with no offensive line, no WR's, and a RB that only averaged 3.9 yards per carry. Ron Turner is a horrible offensive coordinator.

Cutler played reckless whether Denver was up by 14 points or down by 14 points. That is just the way he plays.

.

Knowshon weighs 217 pounds. The same weight that Adrian Peterson played at last year. Knowshon ran a 4.5 40 on some sites, and a 4.6 on others. But the consensus is he plays faster than his timed speed. He runs harder than LT, blocks better than LT did when he came out, was just as polished as a receiver, and has the same incredible balance that LT had coming out.

It was a great offseason. Cutler won't have as good of a year as he did last year. I have a lot of faith in Orton. He played damn well before he got injured last year. He showed if he has an offensive line and WR's that can get open he can play at high level in the NFL. He will not hold this team back.

At 5-foot-11, 217 pounds, Moreno is a mirror image of future Hall of Famer LaDainian Tomlinson. Everything that they do on the field is comparable, from their ability to their physique, even their versatility; it’s all eerily similar. And the irony is that Moreno ended up in the AFC West, the same division that Tomlinson tore up for the last decade. Moreno is a tremendously gifted offensive weapon who finished his career at Georgia with 1,400 yards and 16 touchdowns. He runs with outstanding pad level, displays great vision and tremendous cutback ability. He has a quick first step and is lethal on the edge. He’s deceptively strong between the tackles and will fight for extra yards. He’s faster than his timed speed suggests and has the potential to take it the distance from anywhere on the field. Moreno plays with a lot of emotions and is a high energy player who can occasionally be taken out of his game if he’s not productive. The upside of Moreno is limitless, his talent is obvious, and judging from the success that the ’08 running back class had in the NFL last year, don’t be surprised if he’s the starter on opening day.[/b]

Quote:
Again, comparing Moreno to Tomlinson is a bit unfair, but when you watch footage of Tomlinson at TCU and Moreno at Georgia, you can’t help but compare the two. The running styles of Tomlinson and Moreno are very similar. When Tomlinson starred at TCU, he held the ball up high and tight in the open field (he’s lowered the ball a bit over the years), not allowing defenders the opportunity to force it out. Moreno carries the ball in the same manner, and that’s why he rarely fumbles.

Their ability to get through the smallest crease and use their animal-like vision to cut smoothly is uncanny. Their body build is average in stature, but strong and compact, and can take a pounding between the tackles. They’re savvy enough to realize if they go down when crowded by defenders they will avoid a big hit. They possess toughness in pass protection and are aware of their surroundings to be able to slip out in the flat and provide their quarterback with a passing option.

Moreno is a tremendously gifted offensive weapon who is a threat to take it to the house any time he touches the ball. He runs with outstanding pad level, displays great vision and cutback ability. He has a quick first step and is lethal on the edge. He’s deceptively strong between the tackles and will fight for extra yards. He shows patience, waits for his blockers to set up in front of him and instantly hits the hole. He’s dangerous out of the backfield in the passing game flashing reliable hands, shifty moves and a second-gear that takes him the distance. He’s a determined player who will do whatever it takes for his team to win.

I’ve made no secret that Moreno is one of my favorite players in this draft, or frankly any draft, and there is a good reason. Too often we make a big deal about size/speed, especially at the HB position, but there are tons of HOF/Pro-bowl backs who don’t have exceptional size/speed combinations but make up for it in other ways. IMO, Moreno is one of those backs. He has the best balance I’ve seen, the best pass blocking I’ve seen, and the greatest intensity I’ve seen in the few years I’ve been scouting. He’s a good all-around back capable of running any play, and as a receiver he is excellent at generating 1st downs. Two players I am reminded of are Shaun Alexander (due to vision and inside running, but Moreno is a killer blocker and receiver where Alexander was poor at both) and Clinton Portis (the 2005+ version who is a great blocker and inside runner, not the 200lber from college), and I feel Moreno could be better than either because he truly is the best thing about each of those two backs. While I don’t recommend drafting a RB #4 overall due to money and the overall fungible nature of the RB position, Moreno had huge success behind a pretty bad Georgia OL and if given a decent OL I see pro-bowls and possibly Canton in Moreno’s future.

First, you left out the part that the Bears had 7 defensive and special teams scores, the Broncos had two.

I would hope he plays faster than his 40 time, because he is slow. And, according to the NFL, he weighs 205. I would love to take your word for it... but given your post history and outright lies.... I just can't.
