Who has remote start for their cars?

This is a spinoff of the "Lock your doors" thread. Bearcat said he had remote start and I do as well. I bought mine as an add-on kit several years ago at K-Mart for about $80. Worth every penny if you park your vehicle outside. They even work from a third story office bldg so lots of people can use it twice per day.

I love it. I live on the third story of my condo, and it's nice in the winter to defrost the windows of my car easier.

They even have services now where you can dial an 800 number and lock, unlock, or start your car.

Between this and cruise control, maybe we won't even need to get into our cars at some point.

Yeah; our cars could be equipped with internet video links, so all we have to do is send our car where we want to go and experience the trip all from the comfort of our own homes.

By golly, I think you're on to something here.

Just need to figure out a way to link this idea to the virtual work theory.

Then if I could just clone myself...........................

You could set it up so that you have a camera at work, and so after your camera in the car drives to work, you can turn it off and turn on the work camera.

This could revolutionize the workplace. Imagine highways jammed with cars filled with robots instead of people. You could read the newspaper at home during your commute.

Is this something you could install on like your neighbors car without them knowing, so you could play practical jokes on them like when they get home in the afternoon from work and get out of their car you could keep restarting it and make them have to go back and shut it off like 10 times. Or start it after they go in and let it run all night until it's out of gas ?

You're going to spend $80 and three hours to install it to play a joke? It could probably be done but wouldn't be easy. Just go throw a rock through their window. BTW, I start mine when someone knocks on the door. It scares the pee waddin' out of folks.

Yeah. Sounds like fun to me. I could see somebody calling the police everyday because somebody's been siphoning gas from their car during the night. So they set up a video camera to catch the thief and their car is still out of gas in the mornings and you can't tell the car is running with the video. That's worth $80 easy.

They're really popular out here for the opposite weather reason. It's nice not to stick to your seats in blistering heat.
