just givin' ya a hard time. me no likey hail myself. although the last bad hail we had about 5 yr ago blessed me w/ a new roof that was really needed and i couldn't afford at the time.

I saw a guy get zapped by what you might call a stringer. We were roofing a house when a storm started rolling in. We had one old roofer halfway down the ladder and the guy that owned the roofing company had his hand on the top of the ladder. Lightning struck a tree about 150 yards from the house and a 'stringer' latched on to the ladder. Ralph just dropped and hit the ground, Gary waited a few minutes and hustled down the ladder. The rest of us were young and somewhat resiliant and jumped from the roof onto a pile of dirt that was excavated from under the house.

After that episode we all left at the first sign of dark clouds.

Yikes - close call, man.

I've chased tornadoes for a few years now, and I'm actually more frightened of lightning than anything else because I was playing soccer as a kid and our wet field was struck from what seemed like a bolt out of nowhere. I had heart palpitations for a few hours but luckily I got to go home from the hospital that night. My teammates were mostly okay, thankfully.
