Well I'm shocked. I have no idea what connection Weis has to Muschamp, but if Florida contacted the Chiefs, and received permission, then the Chiefs might be concerned with Weis holding up the grind health wise.

I'd be concerned with his health too....

Weis should leave now if Florida wants him. He's going to be distracted from doing his job as the OC for the Chiefs. What a cheap move by Weis.

I know he's close to Charlie, but if Weis is keeping things close to his vest then there's no way he'd find out.

Yeah this could change things in the playoffs big time. At this moment we need full focus. Not some BS from that stupid Florida team.

Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Charlie Weis is being targeted by the University of Florida Gators to become the offensive coordinator under new coach Will Muschamp, two sources confirmed to ESPN.

Weis is expected to take the job, but no firm agreement is in place.

Muschamp contacted the Chiefs this week for permission to talk to Weis, with the full intention of hiring the Chiefs offensive coordinator and former Notre Dame head coach, sources said. A Florida source said Weis would continue to coach the Chiefs into the AFC playoffs. Another source reiterated that Weis is expected to accept the job.

In his first year on the job, Muschamp has been focused on hiring an NFL offensive coordinator to install a pro-style offense and to assist with attracting pro-style quarterbacks and receivers to the Gators program, sources said.

The Gainesville Sun first reported that Weis was the leading candidate for the Gators' offensive coordinator position.

Chiefs coach Todd Haley did not wish to comment on the report when he was contacted by ESPN and other media members at his Friday press conference.

Chris Mortensen is the senior NFL analyst for ESPN.

No, he shouldn't.

Even if he decides to go, Weis is a professional and will give the Chiefs his best effort in the playoffs.

He'd basically be working two jobs. And he would miss some recruiting time if he stayed with the Chiefs during their playoff run.
